I don't know which one to go to since I hate going to anything like that. This heart pounding seems to be triggered by thoughts, I've had it a few years now. Over time I have more control over it but i suspect it's ruining my life as a wage slave! I used to care, I used to play the game, now it freaks me out and really makes one wonder if you're going crazy or going sane. Mostly I just want this feeling to happen when my life is actually in danger like it's supposed to, not when the phone rings or I hear a noise or read something.
Anyone had this problem and found something that helped? I've heard low doses of anti anxiety meds can help kick the brain out of this pattern. I also saw a doc on tv talking about curing anxiety with a weird video game type system where your brain is the controller. I think it's all about the pathways of thought and physical reactions, somewhere my fight or flight got mixed up.
Anyone know where to start?
Quoting: Jalira Try to everything you can before getting on Xanax. It's so addictive it isn't even funny. It can ruin your life. I think the beta blocker idea is worth a try. I'm in the same boat. I hate checking the mail because it sends me into a panic attack thinking there will be something bad, and I pretty much have a heart attack if someone knocks on my door. I hate it. It's debilitating, but I know that Xanax isn't the answer.
