Curious... Connection keeps going wonky and dropping the log-in...
Blame it on Rolling Thunder here for Memorial Day. Dey bez ah vibratin' on dem bone shay-kuz.

The botanical name for Sage, S a l v i a----is a naughty word on another list I belong to, as is W i l d R a w H o n e y. Don't ask. Don't know.

Many herbs and spices we take for granted as culinary were originally medicinal. Many of the plants we now consider weeds were originally comestibles, too.

As kids, GrandMother would boil onions with garlic, summer savory, black pepper, and thyme for us to drink the likker for upper respiratory infections. The onions & herbs were first sautéed in a pat of butter. She said the pat of butter got all of the goodness out of the onions & herbs. She was right, the fat in the butter helped extract the essential oils from the herbs!

We still make Mustard plasters for chest colds to shorten the duration. Used to slather up with it, hang over the hassock with her massaging and thrumming the back. Sometimes she'd float Vicks Vap-O-Rub in a basin of hot water, place it on the floor and drape a towel over our heads, too.

And, we still gargle with warm salted water at the first sign of a sore throat, tonsel tickle, or itch in the ears. (In fact I have to do that later...had dental work Friday.)

Thymus Vulgaris essential oil is good stuff. One drop in the toilet bowl will completely disinfect it. One drop in a half-gallon of warm water will disinfect kitchen counters, cutting boards, etc. One drop in a gallon of warm water in a glass container set out in the sunshine for 12-hours will effectively neutralise harmful microbes. It is an anti- bacterial, viral, fungi, septic. I have the scientific studies and lab reports/results packed for moving, but would be more than happy to unbox and give references for independent research.

Our Cousin Plants are very smart. Brother Willow and Pine, too.

Hope this is helpful to anyone interested.

Thank you for posting this. I would love to have any additional recipes/info you might have to share if you are so willing. Have you considered a thread specifically related to this? Kinda like Tiny Greens Sustainable thread. Just a thought.
Enjoy your weekend!hf
