Typical statist cultural programming. "Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based of five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, or county commissioners." - Edward Abbey Since government is force, every bill and law passed is an act of violence. - Me "If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skin into their clothing, and if we're very very lucky, they'll do it in that order." - Firefly |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11929150 I doubt that BUT you got to give them credit for giving the series a feeling of total plausibility - who knows more secret projects are going on than the general public is aware of and if such Stargates existed they probably would keep it secret as in the series. And of course the actors all deserve credit - they took their roles seriously and added to the credibility of it all. -Our main complaint is there were no Vulcans. How can you expect anyone to believe in a Stargate without a Vulcan attesting to its logic? -Many Vulcans are snobs; Pay no attention to them.Evolution is a Human/Alien Paradox |

The series was the greatest thing that God has ever, or will ever, put upon this earth. Nothing will top it. Ever! Especially seasons 1 through 8 when O'Neill was in it instead of Cam. I always thought that they should have used the guy who played Shepard on Atlantis as Cam. He would have been a better "replacement" for O'Neill. And they kind of had plausible deniability inside of plausible deniability with the "Wormhole Extreme" episodes. Firefly was good too though. No idea why that was canceled. |

Today even if we have technology and special FX and CG we lost the pure creativity and way to tell a story. Everything is bling, blang now no substance at all. And let's not talk about recent movies they are all craptastic. |

SCI FI is not about some babies opinion who likes soap opera - go watch CSI :D I do watch CSI and I am far from a baby. You should watch the SG-1 episode where they traveled to the bad grammar and awful spelling planet. You would love it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13312546 SCIENCE FICTION IS NOT ABOUT LOVE OR SOME OTHER SOAP OPERA U FUKKTARDS. SOAP should be ABSENT in good SCI FI. Stargate is loaded with soap til the peak. lol, who gives a fuck, if you wish to categorise it into a specific genre, then that is your folly. It was a good show, nonetheless, and you are just coming off as a troll. |

What gets me is how the nay-sayers can say it is soap opera? Maybe they are mixing SG1 with Stargate Universe, because Stargate Universe was loaded with soap opera and that is my primary complaint about that series, not to mention that the actors, acting, direction, imaginative plots, etc., etc. was 10X better in SG1. Another thing I personally liked about SG1 was how they blended human history/mythology throughout the series drawing on the history/mythology of Ancient Egypt. Not counting the movies and series spin-offs SG1 ran for 10 years! How many other Sci-Fi series lasted 10 years? -We show it to the kids all the time and tellthem human intelligence is more than myth. -Why don't you try our Reptelian fantasy seriesa cooking show on how to serve humanoid for dinner. -Beam me back up to the Enterprise, the crew was more logical and easier to understand.Evolution is a Human/Alien Paradox |

For those who haven't yet made the connection yet, I think Stargate may partially be hinting at a secret ... In the series, humans throughout the galaxy are regarded as being the "TAU'RI" Tau'ri [link to stargate.wikia.com] Mythology of Stargate [link to en.wikipedia.org] Now, if you look at the Earth Glyph ... [link to en.wikipedia.org] It is ''Delta'' shaped, looks like an ''A''; and probably stands for ''ALPHA'' .. it also has the original symbol for illuminism at the apex. --- So, we have ''ALPHA TAURI'' ... which just happens to be Aldebaran: Alpha Tauri / Aldebaran [link to en.wikipedia.org] ... which is where Maria Orsic and Sigrun supposedly received their communications from, which began the German Nazi (Thule/Vril) ufo technology developments prior to WWII. | 144,000 User ID: 695817 03/27/2012 08:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not only topnotch science fiction, the show managed to weave Quoting: Alien Commander Omd I Egyptian Mythology throughout the series giving it more depth than most sci-fi and the mythological blending added to the feeling of multi-dimensional reality which some of us are actually looking for now. For example see the following thread on this forum: Do You Believe in the Reality of Parallel Universes? Thread: Do You Believe in the Reality of Parallel Universes? Don't be a dupe, normal every day conscious awareness is multi-dimensional; what you should be seeking is to awaken your ''omni-dimensional'' perceptual capabilities ... and if you utilize your omni-dimensional lens scope and do the necessary deep self exploration; you might begin to view that which we exist within crystal clearly ... as an omni-dimensional multi-universal cosmosphere that mirrors the base creational geometry of the seed of life, the book of genesis, the temple menorah, the buddhist wheel of life, the yezidi mythos of the peacock angel, etc ... 6 universes (days/samsara realms) spun out of 144,000 faceted core at it's central axis (7th day, rest, perceiving the entirety). 6 around 1 containing the pattern for 12 around 1 also ... Language is important to self referencing, it creates the contour through which our views are formed. The notion of multi-dimensionality is a linear loophole and lock on your consciousness ... Shift your self referencing from possessing multi to omni-dimensional perceptual capabilities ... and you might actually begin to wake up, ya'all out there. How many gods or ancients are conceived of as being or having been: multiscient ??? none ... omniscient ... Omni-Dimensional, not multi ... ![]() |

| Copernica User ID: 1120401 03/27/2012 11:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | stargate is in my childhood top 5 movies, but the series... Quoting: RamaPatagonico everytime i watched the character was walking in the same woods or in a basic-look village ...and that's why you need to keep watching. They actually explain that several times in the series. :o) I only discovered Stargate just over a year ago - and I can't believe that I missed out on it that long. Like some, I passed on it because I didn't much care for the movie - which was kind of meh. But once I started watching SG-1? I've been an addict. I'm now on my 5th rewatch. The show just makes me laugh and each time I'm catching something new. I can't say SG-1 is the BEST ever....but it's up there in the ranking. If nothing else, SG-1 is the most rewatchable. I was a total ST:TNG fan - but have a really hard time rewatching it. It just looks so dated. Which when I watched it originally, I didn't think it would have any problem aging. But I won't sell it short - it's still brilliant. BSG - I think this one wins the "best" award. The writing and acting were brilliant. But, alas, the rewatchability isn't quite there. It's so dark that I have a hard time gearing up to watch it. It's also a time commitment since you have to watch all 5 seasons for the whole story. Andromeda is also a favorite of mine. It's fun...until they kill it for 3 seasons - then it gets fun again through the end. Lots of bad decisions by TPTB but that's only if you know what the show was supposed to be. I recently rewatched it and it wasn't as bad as we thought it was when it came out. So don't read the back story and enjoy it...if you can find it. For Stargate people: It's a MUST watch series. In one Andromeda episode, if I counted correctly, you will see not 1, not 2 or 3...but FOUR Stargate actors. And there's more floating around all 5 seasons. For the other Stargate Series - I can NOT stand Atlantis. It started improving with Sam but I don't think it got any good at all until Woolsy took command in the last season. By the end of the last season, I was finally wanting to see more and not just slogging through to get it watched. (And yes, I'm a geek - I watched Atlantis and SG-1 in the airing order, so I got the right timeline). But SG:U? I totally loved it! Of course, I didn't watch it until this past year, so the BSG influence had completely worn off and I was ready for a darker show after 3 rewatches of SG-1. It was part of the Stargate collection - but it was just different. It was being it's own show, and was every bit as plausible as the other series. I think people will discover and fall in love with it in a few years. Kind of like I've rediscovered Andromeda wasn't as bad as I thought it was. And if y'all discover it quickly....we may be able to see it come back on schedule. *weg* And besides - you can't go wrong with Rumpelstiltskin trying to run the ship. Cam you? (And yes, you all need to be watching Once Upon a Time if you're a Stargate fan - loads of alum on it. Andromeda fans - Trance makes an appearance too!) Summary: I really hate "Best" lists. From my pov, most sci fi shows are excellent. Even some of the bad ones have their amazing moments - even if it's just the level of bad that they reach. If we want Sci-fi to go on - we have to support all the good quality shows. You don't have to love them though. ;o) And for Stargate fans - it should be a no brainer to at least be watching the Sci-Fi shows with SG alumni. Which kind of doesn't limit you at all....since they are like in everything! O.O Which I think gives the Stargate franchise an unchallengeable best of - The most actors to appear on other sci-fi shows. Perhaps even non-scifi shows. It's like a sci-fi version of nepotism. LOL |
