The flood crisis in the eastern states of Australia is continuing, with much of New South Wales underwater, and river levels rising.

Thousands of residents in the state's south are bracing for the biggest floods in the region for 40 years.

The main area now under threat is the city of Wagga Wagga, where more than 8,000 residents have been evacuated as they wait for the Murrumbidgee river to peak
