Up to 35 inches recorded!!! My parents just want on vacation to Hawaii (they live about 5 mins away from me - in Northern Vermont) - had wanted to go there for so long... They were in OAHU (I'm pretty sure anyway). They left on Feb 21 and got back on March 3rd. She did say they saw some rain. Kind of glad they're home now. Up to 35 inches recorded!!! HOLY FUCKING HELL!!!! That was WILD!!!! I just now got out of Wainiha - been stuck since Saturday afternoon. No TV, no radio and internet went down Sunday morning. All info we got was via "coconut wireless" (word of mouth) Just heard we got 3 FEET of rain - was dumping about 3 inches per hour - still have a small lake around the house. And getting out and to town was really sketchy - powerlines down, trees down, landslides, parts of the highway completely gone. “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 revstargazer (at) hotmail.com |

Up to 35 inches recorded!!! Here's the story from our local paper [link to thegardenisland.com] teain-soaked-kaua-i/article_0ae11cda-6831-11e1-9cc2-0019bb2963f4.html For people that don't know, we have only ONE main road that connects the communities of the island and this road has literally been washed away in spots. Portions are now one lane or temporary gravel detour roads. They are still clearing landslides, downed power poles and trees. Anyone heading to Kauai should be advised that we are going to have serious traffic problems for a very long time.
