Why are Atheists so hateful, bitter, angry, and intolerant?

It's because they know there is a HIGHER POWER ABOVE THEM, and they are SCARED. They think that by being angry and cursing God, he will go away?? GUESS WHAT ATHEISTS??? YES, ONE DAY YOU WILL HAVE TO FACE GOD, THE JUDGEMENT SEAT IS COMING AND EVERY KNEE WILL BOW!! IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN AND SO IT WILL BE. SORRY GUYS

In all seriousness OP, the majority of people I know are either athiests or agnostics, and only a few of them are assholes, so your sweeping generalization is ridiculous.
There are hateful, bitter, angry and intolerant people of EVERY faith (or lack thereof). You could be one of them...

Because they don't believe God, so they do not have His Spirit. They say God does not exist, but they hate Him.

Because they are enshrouded with much evil and they do not know it.

They are not bad people, but 'do not know which they do.'

I know because I used to be an athiest less than a year ago.

And not all athiests are bad people, most of my friends are athiest in fact. But usually the mask of anonymity and the internet let them spew out hate a lot easier.

Belive it or not, if you take the blinders off once in awhile, you'll see that there are plenty of good, kind, moral people who don't have faith in God. But you would have to be open and willing to get to know them before casting your judgements upon them, which apparently is difficult for you.

I'm not atheist, I sort of believe in God. I can't stand abusive religious people though, namely Muslims and Catholics.

Its all about minding your own business and not trying to tell everyone else that they are wrong and you are right. Its not even about religion, its about keeping your beliefs to yourself, which the outspoken Christians on this site never can do. Everyone is just a little tired of it, and now you are seeing the backlash.

Reading some of the "christian" answers and posts here there is not much love of god in the supposedly christians either.

I'm not any of those things and I don't believe that god is real. If I have to be called anything it is Agnostic though because no one knows for sure. This generalisation is pretty useless I might as well call it a stereotype because that's what it's turning into.
