Just watched a doco on the situation in Japan - There is no evidence of any radiation poisoning amongst the population. People are being tested on a regular basis - (everyday) thousands so far and there are many more to go. Even at the site radiation levels are quite low - some schools registered very low levels but the outside grounds somewhat higher -This could be treated however- but the hills around have higher contamination so they're are still being very cautious. Journalists from Australia have been up there recently and submitted themselves to exposure and when tested didnt register any radiation either. One scientist said that a continual low level of radiation did not affect people as bad as a full on blast of nuclear energy....They are monitoring it all very closely - so dont believe the scare mongers....

Experts have detected radioactive iodine in the thyroid glands of 80 percent of the people who used to live near the Fukushima nuclear plant
Checkups last April of 65 people who were living near the Fukushima plant

Taking into account the way he had been posting on that thread and the group of people who were flocking to his side, I started my thread, also. Counter-point.

Samples from three regions, approximately 210 km, 550 km, and 1060 km from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, were tested for gross gamma activity and radio-isotopic composition. The primary isotopes of focus were the most commonly detected radio-isotopes of Cesium, Cs-134 and Cs-137
