That many transformers blowing at once...and all the lights are still on in the area? What are the orbs in the sky? Lightening, as was suggested? I do not think so.

If these were indeed transformers exploding, then they should be warning people in the area to stay clear, as many older transformers are full of PCB's (very toxic) and an exploding one is essentially like a chemical weapon.

im in brooklyn and we have had 2 transformer blow in 2 years.
they are freaking load when they blow. both time the rocked the whole nieghborhood. everyone came running. masive underground electrical fires burned for hours. evacuated the block. big ordeal. and yes it got very dark very fast.
it most have sounded like WW3 started during that.

X-FLARE: March 9th 2011 ended with a powerful solar flare. Earth-orbiting satellites detected an X1.5-class explosion from behemoth sunspot 1166 around 2323 UT. COINCIDENCES: Many readers have asked if this week's terrible earthquake in Japan was connected to the contemporaneous geomagnetic storms of March 10th and 11th. In short, no. There is no known, credible evidence of solar activity triggering earthquakes. Moreover, in the historical record, there are thousands of examples of geomagnetic storms without earthquakes, and similar numbers of earthquakes without geomagnetic storms. On March 7 the region has produced 2 X flares: X5.4/3B (associated with a fast, wide CME) at 00:24 and X1.3 at 01:14 (associated with a fast, but still significantly slower CME than the one observed less than an hour before) UTC. The latter... X flare occurred in the western part of the magnetic delta structure while the X5 event was near the center of the inversion line. The Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment (ATREX) is a Heliophysics sounding rocket mission that will gather information needed to better understand the process responsible for the high-altitude jet stream located 60 to 65 miles above the surface of the Earth.

Skywatchers along the East Coast may be able to see a NASA experiment that will launch a series of rockets to learn more about the little-understood jet stream winds that circle the Earth at the edge of space.

On a clear night between March 14 and April 4, NASA plans to launch five rockets in five minutes from its Wallops Island facility in coastal Virginia.

Each rocket will release a chemical leaving a long, milky-white cloud to track the winds that scientists will monitor from cameras on the coasts of North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey.

Phoenix's FOX 10 reporter Andrea Robinson was in the middle of an on-air report when an unexplained, bright white explosion appeared in the distance behind her.

The strange blast was caught on tape and aired live during Robinson's report. At first, news station employees thought the explosion was a transformer. But when FOX 10 checked with local utility providers APS and Salt River Project, they were told no transformers had blown in the area.

While the source of the explosion remains a mystery, it comes just before the 15th anniversary of one of the most-famous UFO sightings in recent history. On March 13, 1997, a cluster of glowing orbs moving in a V-shaped formation was spotted in the skies above Phoenix. That incident was also caught on film. The origin of the light formation has since been endlessly analyzed and debated.

About a week from the 15th anniversary of the 'Phoenix Lights' event , a new set of lights has national UFO investigators taking a close look at the skies over the Valley.

In two clips totaling about four minutes, a Valley resident videotaped an eye-catching series of lights in the night sky over north Phoenix near Cave Creek.

The person recorded the "V" shaped object about 10 days ago.

He and several witnesses with him turned the video over to the Mutual UFO Network, known as MUFON .

The Phoenix chapter of MUFON has possession of the two video clips, and according to MUFON Arizona Director Jim Mann, the agency has an investigator assigned to the case.
