[link to en.wikipedia.org] Test was in July. So what 2-3 months had passed before they went to ground zero? Note that in the pictures they wore white covers on their feet to stop the fallout from sticking. So they were aware that the atmosphere probably was not much of a risk but the dust was radioactive so they took measures to avoid it. |
