I watched the vid and my estimation of Obama just went up several notches.

whats the problem? He was stating fact. He's pointing out that the state should not be run by church. Doesnt everyone agree with that? Surely it should be so. Just ask the Irish who, in my lifetime, didnt have access to condoms and oral contraceptives because of the confusion of state and church.

It was not an attack on the Bible. It was pointing out why people need to engage the Bible with a critical eye, especially if people are trying to use it to make public policy. That is legitimate.

Some people just are clueless. They are the ones who ridicule the Bible, trying to use it in ways the Bible itself was not intended.

As for the Old Testament quotes, he could just as well have addressed those to the AIPAC crowd, but of course he wouldn't have done that.

I don't see why his statements were wrong... The only way you can argue they were wrong if you would indeed want to see US policy based on levictus or other OT scripture.

Nor do I see an issue with it, specially since the coming election it will be a choice between him or a full fledged "heretic" (Romney is a mormon who doesn't believe Jesus is god and thus technically are polytheistic).

I heard this the other day on the radio and it really was upsetting to me. How can he say he's a Christian then bash the Bible saying it's radical? He's the radical one! He needs to go where there's a seat reserved for him straight in hell!
