In response to some of the other comments, none in particular, I would say the following:

maybe they do have a "do not interfere" oath of sorts. Maybe they did interfere in the past, and after the most recent reset, decided that they'd just observe this time, until a predetermined time/event/progression of mankind has been met.

the way I look at it is similar to the Orson Scott Card book, either Speaker of the Dead or Xenocide, I believe the latter, where humans are on an alien planet and have the duty of studying but not interfering with the alien species inhabiting said planet.

maybe the aliens are scientists watching their experiment.

Some of them - yes, they observe, but NOT ALL OF THEM OBSERVE !! ..

I think they have been showing us something with all the sightings and some of the crop circles. The governments also seem to be allowing information out in pieces. Personally I wish they would just come out all together and let people just deal with it. As humans we will all interpret whatever they say in our own personal way.

They are waiting for their Earth bound puppets to slowly disclose their existence. Those puppets being the Vatican church & most of the world governments & their leaders. The Earth is still being controlled by ET's & has been since the human was created as slave workers. The reptilian Anunnaki bloodlines are still here and still in power. The British monarchy & entire royal family as well as their American counterparts. These world leaders have been battling against the mid-east for control of the Anunnaki's space related sites for thousands of years. Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya these are all sites the Anunnaki have controlled & now the Alien agenda is to wipe out all Muslims which is basically another Alien race. This is being done in preparation for the return of the Gods.

They are here just to make scientific studies. Not about our physical bodies, but about our behavior. They are here to observe our "natural" behavior. So, they need to hide, otherwise the behavior will not be "natural".

it would infringe on our free will if they showed themselves to the masses. If you concentrate on them enough and send a request for contact it is possible, unless of course, it wasnt written into your life. and just like humans can be positively or negatively oriented, so can other creations.

Your theory resonates with me, including the solar flare one. All this fear really means it's the elites that are afraid and they are trying to get us to be afraid!

They are not hiding. They avoid direct human contact because:

1.) All they need from humans is sex, and DNA samples.

2.) They know most humans are really stupid, especially severely ethnic ones in The USA who have special rights.

Why do biologists hide and spy on lions from a distance in protective vehicles built to handle a lion attack?

I judge the aliens are quite self aware and do not want to be harmed by a violent human. So they spy in crafts that are designed to evade all our weapon systems.

And if too many show up and alarm the population, then the whole idea of looking at what we do is defeated. It's like biologists by the thousands surrounding a Family of Lions. It would disturb the effort of observation.

We are the savage beasts in this aspect.

showing en masse is the last option i guess
