Only those they wanted to get rid of where in the towers. In building 7 there were a number of decent inteligence officers killed. These were the ones that may create problems.

In WTC 1 and 2 there were a few CEOs no doubt but the Main corporate CEOs were told to not turn up for work.

Name them.

I started working for Marsh & McLennan about six months after the 9/11 attacks. The company lost almost 300 workers that day, the first plane actually hit the MMC offices. While the offices in the WTC were not the main MMC headquarters (those were and are in Midtown Manhattan, where I worked), I can verify that top executives for the company were killed in the attacks. One in particular, a woman, don't remember her name 'cause she was before my time there, was hugely respected by many who ran that company. I remember at one particular company-wide meeting one of the other top execs. for the firm almost breaking down crying when talking about her and the attacks.

Most of the people I worked with at MMC knew something on the order of two dozen people who died on 9/11, some at MMC, some at the several other insurance related companies that had offices there. A lot of these were more middle-level executives, too. Starting work there so soon after the attacks, it was constantly a major topic of conversation and very emotional for a lot of people at all levels of the company: regular "peasant" workers like me and executives, alike.

This. The Head of Cantor Fitzgerald survived but some 700 employees did not.

However, to be fair, it is common for C-level types to be out of the office frequently.

What? It takes out the investment bankers (Competition) scares the hell out of the citizens while you change all the banking laws and allow the largest banks to be investment banks then we get Derivatives and the corruption goes crazy! I could go on but it is getting old talking to SHEEP!!!

A lot of big American corporations had major offices in the towers. "World Trade Center" is just a name, but it was really just a very big pair of office towers. The companies in the towers were mainly major U.S. corporations like Marsh & McLennan, AON, Cantor Fitzgerald, etc.

Then why would they target police and firemen too ?

Police and firemen weren't targeted, they were at the buildings doing rescue work when it fell, after the attacks happened...
