Criminals are using this technique to evade Police interest from the APNR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system used across the UK...

Use "cloned" license/number plates, from a car that is identical (colour, year, make, model) and is fully insured.

Cloned plates are a major problem for the cops but a simplistic get around for criminals.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

the cops use ANPR (automatic number plate register), and that INSTANTLY warns them of no insurance/tax cars.

look like that's the system they'll be using.

the story is right. there is no new database, they'll just be using what is there already.

It's quite simple As a gas station owner all they have to do is say NO if they force you close down all of em that will fixem. Just shut them all down for a week.

It's against the law to have no insurance for cars here. I expect they'll include road tax and MOT's in this too.

That's why it's suspicious they even waste time on it.

We pay a third party insurance company. Theres many many people driving in this country with no insurance. Any foreign plates would not work using this system either.
Yes expect more people to be using cloned plates. Insurance costs in the u.k are driving(no pun intended) more and more people into breaking the law. Too many lawyers making money of the back of small insurance personel injury claims.

Yup same here but the Gov is not in charge of collecting money for insurance companies,and most certainly not putting camera's in at petrol stations to catch them.

I remember the London cops saying the camera's were put in to help lower the crime rates,now they seem to be a revenue collecting system for private insurance companies.

What's to stop an uninsured driver from stopping a block away and getting his gas in Jerry cans?

They'll only allow 1 can and you wll have to pay for it up front before they turn the pump onand they'll set the amoun to dispense, you want more, you'll have to bring them in a vehicle

BS. They are scanning plates to identify where you buy gas, where you buy groceries, what bar you stop at and who's house you have visited. It is Google to the extreme. Try that cloning shit and see what it gets you, picking up two or more plate numbers at the same time in different locations is a cinch and easily identifies the clones. Besides, if you get pulled over or in an accident, your busted and improper tag is serious charge.
