Homo Heidelbergensis which evolved from Homo Erectus, and lived 600,00-400,000 years ago. The last Cro-Magnons were said to have been killed off only a few hundred years ago by the genocidal Spanish conquistadors. Homo Sapiens Sapiens (us) are weaker and smaller-brained than our Cro-Magnon ancestors.
