Good point I now understand where your coming from. Though I do support indigenous rights to their traditions, they too should take responsibility for their actions and relize the times we live in don't support an unessary kill when they can find alternatives to acquiring these bird parts for the cerimonies

ahhh yes.... natives living in unison with nature?...read Lewis and Clark when they reached the west coast...not a deer to be found within a weeks walk of the tribe there on the Columbia river, and when they were able to find a elk, it had multiple arrow head in it...humans are parasites and over consume no matter where they are found....

Exactly, do you think Obama has nothing to do but keep tabs on a local Fish and Wildlife Service in Denver?

I really think some of the people here never read these articles they make comments on.
The article states-

1- The bald eagle was removed from the threatened species list in 2007.

2- The permit issued by the Fish and Wildlife Service is in accordance with the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.

3- The Northern Arahapo tribe is only going to kill two eagles for a religious ceremony.

4.- Obama met with Native American tribe leaders in Dec. to sign an executive order establishing an initive on American Indian and native Alaskan education. That had nothing to do with eagles.

What is the problem and how does Obama have anything to do with it anyway?

dont know which state your from but even in liberal cali...the protected mountain lion can be killed if it's taking livestock...called a deprivation hunt , check your fish and wildlife dept.......

Obama may currently sit in the chair. Obama is not ( I don't agree with him and his staff) the cause of eagles being eagles and hunting my livestock. Obama has nothing to do with the eagle problem.

Mayors son is in the Game Division and seems to be politically motivated. But, neighboring towns are not. Guys, where i'm from, we are raised to live and die for America. The eagles around here have become sporty. They truly are a wonderful beast. Smart, they communicate with each other to form a plan. Fun to watch. Sadly, I'm starting to understand with the human population as it stands in the farming areas, we need less eagles or some way to mess with their minds to stay away. But in the later where would that drive them to. Nature is nature.

Ron Paul has stated that he wants to totally eliminate the Fish and Wildlife Service. After that, they'll be able to kill as many bald eagles as they want.

When we lived in New Mexico Golden Eagles would swoop down and try to take one of my four dogs the two Labrador Retrievers were clueless however my German Shepherd/ Rottweiler cross and Australian Cattle dogs protected themselves along with the two goofy Labradors.

What the eagles would do is lift the poor animals into the air then drop them to the ground maiming then killing them.

The Golden Eagles nested in the nearby huge metal power lines and between them and the coyotes many dumped cats and dogs met their demise. What many people do not realize is that the American Bald Eagle is a scavenger, which is why Franklin wanted the American Wild Turkey as the symbol for America.

Dave, i was coming back from the feed and grain and witnessed one of my lambs being hunted. It happened so fast there was nothing other then pulling a gun I could have done about it. The female sunk into the back of the lamb, reached out and ripped out its throat. Then just strutted for a few moments and flew off. As a matter of fact, a native friend of mine gave me a medicine pouch he made out of rabbit skin, (which he ate the meat of, one of my fav's, by the way) and the bag had two red tail hawk feathers tied to the sinew draw string with some sacred beads attached. Inside was some stones and crystals and a bear claw.

If I got caught with it, it would be a federal offense, unless the feds talked to my native friend and he confirmed he gave it to me. HE trapped and released the birds. He used to attend the sun dances. A couple of my native friends did. And I used to go to their sunrise ceremony's on Sunday mornings in the mountains in Cal. They were freaking awesome.

Just sayin', it was definitely a catch and release situation with the hawks.

I was working alongside a fellow rigger at a site and he can do hawk calls luckily we are on the last slab of the site and the crane is right above us when he does his calls they make their landings right on the crane its awsome.
