my good friend was homeless in hawaii and he said it sucked. the natives don't like the non-natives slumming around their beaches. better off somewhere in the woods inside continental USA. i bet tenn. is nice.

The shelter in Honolulu is not that great. Yes they do serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner but sleeping acomidations could be better. You only ge a 3 inch thick mattress to sleep on and you do that on the floor, no bed frame. And ad as I can tell, kind of crowded, but yes, the weather is very nice.

Well, the OP said city

however, I personally don't think ANY city is a good place to be homeless - actually, I don't think any city is a good place to live with or without a home

i cant argue that point ma,am. i grew up in the sticks and i currently live in a small city but am strategically situated on the outskirts. city people always seem to be pissed and in a hurry.

I have never understood why homeless people live in cities at all, if you are gonna live like an animal then why wouldn't you live in the woods? I would rather eat something I killed fresh than food out of a dumpster any day.

No need to be homeless, anyone can get a food stamp credit card. Buy expensive food for other at deep discount for cash. It happens all the time here in Texas with the Lone Star Card.

Re: best city to be homeless
Okay so which U.S. city has the best shelter? I mean as in a non religious she,ter in the southern part of the country because it is too cold in the north in the wintertime.
And why is the one you tell me about the best in your opinion? I might need a place this coming winter, around November for about 6 months so tell me which shelter is the best?

Boulder Colorado-
they are very helpfull to all of the homeless there-
the shelters are open all year round- food is good- lots of the local restaurants donate leftovers and what not-
free clothes and all you need is a tent and a bike-
which by the way they just steal-

Re: best city to be homeless
Currently homeless. Best is not even a question. Best for what? Best for when? Are you a busker? A crafter? A beggar? A dealer? A thief?

What temps do you want? Bay Area winters are pretty nice if you have a home, but 40* and wet for days on end stinks. The desert is pretty nice this time of year and dry, but lows can be in teens.... Are you healthy and able to walk 20 miles a day with your gear?? Do you need culture or quiet? Cannabis? Do you want to get off the street or stay there? Etc.
