Esoteric Morgan ...in awe of many things User ID: 3539589 United States 03/15/2012 11:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From one of the news articles currently offered in GLP's left sidebar: Corn insecticide linked to great die-off of beneficial honeybees Excerpt: "New research has linked springtime die-offs of honeybees critical for pollinating food crops — part of the mysterious malady called colony collapse disorder — with technology for planting corn coated with insecticides. The study, published in ACS' journal Environmental Science & Technology, appears on the eve of spring planting seasons in some parts of Europe where farmers use the technology and widespread deaths of honeybees have occurred in the past. In the study, Andrea Tapparo and colleagues explain that seeds coated with so-called neonicotinoid insecticides went into wide use in Europe in the late 1990s. The insecticides are among the most widely used in the world, popular because they kill insects by paralyzing nerves but have lower toxicity for other animals. Almost immediately, beekeepers observed large die-offs of bees that seemed to coincide with mid-March to May corn planting. Scientists thought this might be due to particles of insecticide made airborne by the pneumatic drilling machines used for planting. These machines forcefully suck seeds in and expel a burst of air containing high concentrations of particles of the insecticide coating...." I agree who can keep up with the speed of the posts I had no idea was posted just read it and thought it important to share. If I had $100 for every time I posted and then days later it was posted again by someone else, well I would be a millionaire. Anyway was not intentional. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 4473716 New Zealand 03/15/2012 11:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know one woman who uses honey as a treatment for all wounds on her animals. Guess it would work on humans too. Awful sticky though. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12361971 My cat recently had two large abcesses on his forehead after scrapping with a neighbour's cat. I sliced them open with a scalpel and applied manuka honey, which the cat licked off, but kept applying it. Took about five days for the fur to grow back and the abcesses to be gone. |

They do 5 and 10 and it's all to do with the natural antiseptic content. Manuka is sweet and delicious and has a similar smell to an old school artificial disinfectant called Dettol in the UK. It's a natural bandage for burns, cuts and grazes. It sets on the skin like a latex while feeding the wounds with germ killing alkaloids. Amazing stuff. |

Because I really get sick of taking all those antibiotics. Quoting: Eimaj It actually works very well for bronchitis. You take a spoon full (1 tbsp or so) and swallow it. Dont drink anything at all for at least 30 minutes. This method also works for sore throat and stomach problems. |

Doctors are taught the text book and not the whole person and nutrition. We will not go into the money side of Big Pharma. Vets are no better. |
