OK. This is a conspiracy site so let's think about the possibility of conspiracy. Likely the simplest explanation is the most likely: He knows some expose of bad money handling by him or the organization is coming out, and he freaked out about it.

But, just for the exercise, let's think bigger picture: Are there countries or powers that would benefit from this guy's docmentary being discredited? I'm thinking more than Kony. I'm thinking of some power that benefits because of the mayhem created by Kony. Uganda apparently has a lot of oil. What country benefits if Kony is allowed to stay put and/or there is no Western intervention in that part of Africa because of Kony?

Maybe an agent from that country slipped the director something that caused him to act so weirdly, in hopes of discrediting his organization and preventing more Western intervention into that part of Africa.

Somebody more knowledgeable about Africa, oil and power politics needs to take this idea from here.
