Perhaps you should look close at yourself, and ask why you allow yourself to be raped, when other clearly are taking action to avoid it. It seems you are resentful of them not suffering, simply because you are not willing to stop your own suffering. |

Car insurance is diabolical over here, £5k my sister was quoted for her first years insurance. If it stops the bastards that ride around for free at our expense then I am all for it. I have nothing to hide from big brother, let him watch me. |

The number plate recognition system only requires linking to the data base at DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) which already has other systems monitoring the roads anyway. Quoting: Merlin Frankly, I would be delighted if the silly buggers who drive without having paid road tax and insurance could be stopped from filling up their cars with fuel. It might help put a stop to the tragedies and hardship that these morons cause. Plus, because the numbers of illegal non-payers is so high, it would significantly bring down the costs to honest drivers, if the skivers had to pay their share too. Wow, this could have been written about America as well. We have tons of illegals, who drive with no insurance. If they cause an accident, they get away with it with no penalty. Our insurance rates go up to make up the difference. Totally sucks. Of course in the US, the big corporations love having low wage illegals, so it probably won't happen here. Yeah, and anyone that believes that the insurance or tax rate would EVER be lowered even if a program such as this was successful is a damned fool. Keep applauding the nanny state and volunteering your fellow man's liberties for the sake of greed... We are all getting what you deserve for it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 12558453 United States 03/17/2012 09:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Saturday, Mar 17 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12672444 [link to boingboing.net] Under a pending proposal, the license-plate cameras at UK filling stations will soon begin to trigger automatic lookups of every motorist's insurance and tax records. Drivers whose insurance and tax records can't be located or verified will not be allowed to fill their tanks. This requires that the existing cameras, which are there to document drivers who don't pay for their gas, be connected to sensitive government databases filled with identifying personal information. Forensic cameras -- whose records are used (after the fact) to catch crooks -- don't need to be 100 percent accurate, since almost every plate they capture will not be involved in a crime, and ambiguous results can be resolved by a human backstop. But cameras that prevent you from getting something you need, like petrol, need to be 100 percent accurate, since it wouldn't do to let the person operating the cash-register override the judgment of the automated system. “This proposal will increase the potential for conflict. Our cashiers are not law enforcers.” [link to www.mirror.co.uk] The Brits? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9424952 United States 03/17/2012 09:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They should introduce a Smart Card, that you insert into the pump before the petrol starts delivery, if your Road Tax, MOT and Insurance checks out. That would keep dishonest drivers off the road. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12526210 Better yet, they should just microchip all of us. You know RFID. Yeah, that's the ticket! |

Poor people not being able to fuel up. Next... A bunch of wealthy people with punctured gas tanks. For if you back the poor into a corner, they will bite. As the saying goes: "When the poor starve long enough, they eat the rich." Another old saying: "Careful what you wish for." I find it hard to believe that adults with education levels high enough to maintain a decent economic life style in today's world economy don't see the plain truth. The effect of stripping the free housing, food and medical care from the poor and indigent. Then instituting laws such as this that are designed to further persecute and punish the poor. Riots. Home invasions. Kidnapping. Murder. The entire social construct that allows you to be so DISCONNECTED from your fellow man that you feel no compassion or empathy would come crashing down. THINK!!! Instead of further criminalizing of the poor and less fortunate, hell even those that are flat out lazy... How about bringing all the manufacturing jobs back to Europe and North America. Give the COMMON man a chance to survive and be self reliant. No... You would rather see them suffer... for the very greed that makes you covet your possessions, wealth, and social standing has turned your heart coal black with hatred and resentment. Try thinking of solutions that don't include putting people in prison. Fixing the problem... NOT THE REACTION!!! Damned fools the lot of ya... |

It's obvious however that you have fallen for the bullshit "class war" propaganda though haven't you? Since when do you get any special rights as a HUMAN BEING because you pay more taxes? Are you MORE EQUAL than your fellow man? More deserving of a meal? Of your very life? A dangerous path your line of thinking leads to... You won't need shelter for a night huh? Won't need a free meal? Not one? Must be nice... to be so SPECIAL and DESERVING. Idiot, and if put in the same situation of the MILLIONS that you seem to hate so much... you would most likely be a hypocrite, if you aren't already. Never needed help in your WHOLE LIFE?
