Invest in ammo, food, a CCW, and a HAM radio and books on commonsense. it's ok. the US will go steal someone elses oil :) Well, US had more oil than Saudi Arabia, and managed to burn it, and still don't realize that oil is finite. It's always someone else's fault, and the oppressed oil from those ME countries had to be liberated. Problem is, almost all oil has been liberated already. The World has reached peak oil. There's no conspiracy, just greed. abiotic oil agrees with the greed part, but not peak oil. |

Commonsense, ain't all that common, sir. The problem, as I see it, is one of skills shortages. Take the husband of my son's girlfriend. He's an executive in finance. Smart guy. I helped him build a fence recently for one of his dogs. He actually knows how to use a hammer and saw. Well, this led to discussion that one of his young execs under him is a young man, 27, and he had a flat and could not change the tire. Had NO CLUE. When a major economic event occurs, who is going to fair the best are the people that care for themselves, which in the USA ain't many. It's simple, take a shop class yah dummies. Steve Bruhle.... This is the same old nonsense of jacking oil prices up by claiming external events. Next you will have the Nigerian rebels bombing a refinery or Nigerian oil workers going on strike. Same old crap. |

Since the cold war the US have bought petroleum whenever the price has dropped. The US is is paranoid about the supply of gasoline in the event of a world wide conflict. They have been re-stocking Texas oil fields since the 50's. The US has stocks for at least 10 years (for Military purposes) This has been a sound policy but the attempt to keep it secret is laughable. :spyda: |

I live in Houston and my father works at one of the refineries there. He told me that the company he works for is working on building 250 oil reserve tanks. Refineries shut down units from time to time for maintenance but i highly doubt they would shut an entire refinery down. |

Why? Critical refineries are shutting down in the Notheast, reports the Wall Street Journal. Numerous refineries have been idled or are preparing to close across the region due to increased costs and the price pressure is likely to grow even higher if, as expected, Sunoco shuts the region’s largest refinery this summer. Then it's official, the dollar is dead! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1311324 United States 03/18/2012 08:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ive had the privilege of working in the oil and gas indusrty.....well it might be true that sunoco and them are closing these refineries what I do know is that they sold out previously before that anyway... and chose not to upgrade in the past to more modern refinery equipment. The refineries still making money are the ones that chose to take steps to increase efficiency before the increase in gas prices after 2003....all indian refineries are making money refining these days because they chose to increase the efficiency of their machines. So I must call BS Quoting: Oldoilgasworker 1302027 when gas prices spiked a couple of years ago, the oil companies reported record profits. you're saying the slight increases in efficiency are the only thing keeping the other refineries profitable? BULLSHIT. the oil/petrochemical industry is the biggest and most profitable industry in the world [that actually deals with tangible resources.] only financiers make more money, but they're the ones running the oil corps anyway. increased price for crude? that's passed onto the consumer! profits for the oil corps goes up regardless! THIS IS ALL ABOUT CRIPPLING CHINA SO THEY CANNOT GROW AS THEY HAD WANTED TO. |
