OF NORTH TEXAS TODAY AND TONIGHT. NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS NORTH TEXAS TODAY AND TONIGHT. SOME
STORMS COULD BECOME SEVERE WITH DAMAGING DOWNBURST WINDS AND LARGE

Monday's severe threat will target locations from Texas northward to portions of Oklahoma, western Arkansas, Kansas, western Missouri and southwest Iowa. Damaging winds, large hail, torrential downpours and isolated tornadoes are all possible. Tuesday, the severe thunderstorm threat continues in the south-central states.

Even though strong instability will stick from DFW south, very high wind shear in Okahoma will extend tornado threat even north of the Red River

Tornado watch about to be issued for Oklahoma ahead of convective line. With extreme wind shear any of these storms could rotate as they move through central Oklahoma. Driving south it is clearing near Red River which will enhance instability.

Nothing yet in the DWF. Cloudy skies just like the past 4 days. I am guessing it will hit the Dallas area around 6PM/CALCST tonight.

The weather band radio is going off non-stop. The last alert put Tarrant in a tornado watch until 10 pm.

The winds are wicked...blowing stuff all around. Its trash pick up day and with all the wind, it's a big mess outside.

I just saw a Styrofoam cooler blow past my house! LOL

I'm in central Texas and although it's very windy, all we have is a wind advisory and an 80% chance of rain tomorrow. It has been overcast but I haven't heard any severe weather alerts.

I'm up by DFW and the wind is really kicking. I've already had to fish lawn chairs out of the pool and we just had a gust that moved the grill across the patio.

It might be a good day to mow the lawn. I wouldn't have to sweep up the grass clippings! LOL

... Wind Advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* Timing... now through early evening.

* Winds... southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph can
be expected across all of North Texas through early evening.
Winds will gust higher locally in thunderstorms.

* Impacts... strong southerly winds will be hazardous to drivers of
high profile vehicles on east west highways. Loose objects and
dead trees will be susceptible to blowing down in the wind.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 20 to
30 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving
difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Boaters should
use extra caution when venturing onto area lakes. Residents may
wish to take action to secure trash cans... lawn furniture... and
other lightweight outdoor objects that may be blown around in the
strong winds.

Just saw on the news flights out of DFW are running about 2 1/2 hours late. That should screw up air traffic around the country for a while.

It rained in Abilene today, rain guage says 1/2 inch. Hoping to get more, has dime size hail for about a minute. No strong winds were we live. Hope you guys stay safe. Not sure if we are to get anymore. 5 stars for you and a green one coming your way

Heads up tonight!

Heavy winds today knocked out power to more than 20,000 customers in DFW as of 4 p.m., according to electricity provider Oncor.

Strong winds blew down an awning of a business in Hurst about 12:45 p.m. today, said Hurst police Sgt. Craig Teague. The building at 737 Grapevine Highway in Hurst fell onto 3 to 4 cars, but no one was injured. Strong winds also toppled over an 18-wheeler in Grapevine.

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, with some severe storms potentially packing golf-ball-sized hail, winds reaching 60 to 70 mph and a few isolated tornadoes.

The biggest threat of tornadoes will be south of Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the weather service.

OMG, they just showed on The Weather Channel , a bunch of planes trying to "hurry up and land " at DFW airport before the storm hits! It said Flight Tracker on the photo
