Something's rattling small Wisconsin town

" The sounds -- variously described as rattling pipes, clanging metal, thunder or firecrackers --have continued on and off since early Sunday night in just one part of the small town of 4,600, located about 180 miles northeast of Madison.

Accompanying the sounds are vibrations that have shaken homes and household objects in the northeast corner of town, city manager Lisa Kuss said.

The sounds were loud enough Monday morning that a CNN journalist could hear them during a cell phone conversation with Kuss.

It looks like clintovnille sits right on the edge of two different types of bedrock. Most likely some Cryoseism, also known as a frost quake, may be caused by a sudden cracking action in frozen soil or rock saturated with water or ice. As water seeps down into the rock, it freezes and expands, putting stress on surrounding rock. This builds up until it is relieved explosively in a cryoseism.
Dolomite, sandstone and Shale is below that town. No expert but that stuff probably has a tendence to snap and pop.

in this small town would know what it is... obviously
this is something new.

I'm not sayin it's cryoseism but it does make sense because of the quick thaw we had. It's cryoseism.

Told ya I'm no expert. It says the cracking happens during the freeze yet its thawing now so there is no expansion. OK , still leaves no explanation, doom on.

March 19, 2012 - More Rattling Booms Now in Wisconsin.

Clintonville, Wisconsin, is a small town of about 4,600 residents
180 miles north of Madison and west of Lake Michigan. Beginning
Sunday evening, March 18, people reported loud sounds that shook
their homes and were compared to clanging metal and thunder. City
Manager Lisa Kuss told CNN the sounds were vibrating homes in
the northeastern corner of Clintonville. So far, Lisa Kuss does not know of any significant damage or injuries, but she would like answers to the cause. So would residents in Georgia and Alabama where loud, unexplained, window-rattling booms have also been recently reported.

The other night I heard what sounded like a bloop bloop bloop sound coming from somewhere. I thought it was the refrigerator or a pipe in the house but I checked and nothing was amiss.

I live in SE Wisconsin, right next to Lake Michigan. I have been hearing strange noises for a couple weeks now. No shaking though. The sounds appear to sound like an organ playing and I have also heard some booms.....
