thanks for the report. Do you ones realize that although the SA seems risky down there in the LA basin, your greater risk is all the water filled breaking up caverns and fractures that can collapse suddenly up to 100 feet or more?

Long Valley Caldera in eastern California (here viewed from its southwest rim toward its northeast rim on the horizon 18 miles away) was formed about 760,000 years ago in a violent volcanic eruption that blew out 150 cubic miles of magma (molten rock) from beneath the Earth's surface. U.S. Geological Survey scientists are tracking continuing dome-like swelling centered in the low forested hills in the middle of the caldera. This swelling affects more than 100 square miles and is caused by magma rising beneath the Earth's surface.

Thanks for the info, Kevin! We appreciate solid observances from "professionals" who have trained in the "scientific method". The more occurrences we can plot, the better our chances of pinpointing the center and possible causes/projections.

Last year I was hearing that the ground is rising in southern Oregon too, basically the same mountain range. I haven't seen anything recently about it, but there is no reason to assume that it has ceased.

Interesting observation, NIP. Remember in the movie "2012", when all heck is breaking loose in SoCal, the buildings are not just sliding/falling down (from the shaking), but actually SINKING into the ground? I wondered at the time how this could happen.

If California (or at least the Coast) is honeycombed with caverns, a major earthquake could certainly collapse them and take everything "above ground" with them.

That would certainly explain what was happening in the movie.

Step 2. Go buy a cheap microphone for the PC and download some free software and record.

Step 3. Youtube or glp and upload to legion.
