How do we know if it's a foreshock? Only if there are no aftershocks soon,is that right?
Quoting: igCorcaigh Yes, that's a good sign it's a foreshock. It's been 40 minutes and not one small quake has hit since the 7.6. Aftershocks usually hit very soon after the initial quake and then decline in frequency and magnitude. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 926633 will you morons STOP spreading that bullshit?! it's always dumbshits who have no idea about how quakes work spreading bullshit around. just because there is no aftershock immediately does NOT mean it is a foreshock. there is nothing at all saying an aftershock has to occur within minutes or hours. got the stupidity on here never ceases to amaze! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9686447 No, because that is my direct experience having lived in CA for decades. Every major quake has been followed by numerous aftershocks within hours that decrease in size. The only thing that's amazing is your irrational anger.
