FBI Surveillance Vans
So the other day I was in my apartment and was connecting my new iPad to my WiFi network. Everything seemed fine, but while looking for my WiFi network I happened to notice this listed on available networks "FBISurveillanceVan".

Below is the screen shot -

After seeing this, I looked out my apartment window and notices a white unmarked van outside my door. Below are the pictures of the van along with the license plate "BUJIN" which is a "ninja" character name from Dragon Balls.

When I saw the van, I when outside, took pictures (below) and an older guy around his late 40's with a bluetooth headset got into the van.

From my research these vans are made by Ford and called "Transit Connect", a complete internet on wheels van with high tech equipment, hotspot capabilities and a tibbe key which is round and very unusual for starting automobiles.

Has anyone else seen these vans around?

I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI didn't check what WiFi name they were transmitting and I'm sure someone in their IT department probably didn't think or check to make sure it was something unique. Either that or legally they have to transmit that ID to get around the law of "surveillance".

DON'T TRUST THESE VANS IF THEY'RE AROUND YOU!

I have read articles before of the FBI doing this and also x-ray viewing into homes with vans.

PoliceSurveillanceVan. I thought maybe it was a joke because I could not see a van. I have considered naming my wifi that as a joke but the problem is I don't know if it is a joke,

Re: FBI Surveillance Vans
Can't stay logged in log, but the other day while I was working in my Faraday cage I detected a new WiFi network. It was called "WeAreTheNSAandWeAreHereToKillYou". I didn't think to much about cause it was a WPA2 closed network so I wasn't going to spend to much time trying to connect to it.

Oddly though about that time I noticed several dudes skulking around outside my building (which I've ringed with CCTV cams). Suddenly they all drew pistols and busted in! I dropped a thermite grenade on my gear and beat feet to my old station wagon. I barely got away before the building exploded. Not sure what happened to those goons, but I felt lucky to be alive!

So now I've been seeing white vans and I've picked up a few more weird WiFi networks on my iPhone (jailbroken so they can't get a fix on me); stuff like "WeAreNOTtheNSAandWeWillNotHurtYouEver", and "WeReallyLikeYouandYouHaveNothingToFearFromYourGovernment".

Wish I could figure out how they're tracking me. I'm so tired I haven't slept in over 128 hours.

Got to go...

I saw the same exact wifi network FBISurvellianceVan JUST LIKE THAT for not the first but SECOND time in a different place I saw it the first time.

I thought it was someone playing a joke but seeing the exact same network in two different locations has me knowing they are indeed watching me. We're in the same boat friend....

Re: FBI Surveillance Vans
weird. i was having trouble with my network, just due to a crappy router really but i spent a few hours messing with my network and router settings. it was late, around 4am. i looked out my kitchen window and there was a white unmarked pick-up truck with one of those hardcore round dome antennae things sticking out of the top. the guy had his interior light on and i could see him. he kept looking at my house then looking down and flipping pages in a book or folder, etc. i chalked it up to the gas company taking remote readings of meters because we have those but the truck was unmarked and it was 4am. IDK, probably nothing but the gas meter but reading this makes me wonder, although i've never seen any bizzare wifi networks in my crib.

in a way, i think its sort of stupid that everybody has their own network, i mean the technology is available that people could have community based connections instead of paying individually per month and having a dozen wifi networks per block. its pretty retarded really.

i'd say that if the .gov has to drive around with wifi sniffers then we have been lied to about the security of our country, therefore i believe you all need to chill about stuff. we live in a techno society with utility vehicles reading meters and stuff. keep it real. a g-man doesn't have to park in front of your house to nab your communications. that's really outdated thinking, like by 2 decades at least. it wouldn't surprise me if smartasses are naming their wifi with silly names to scare people. its probably the latest craze in adolescent drama.

I saw the same thing on my iPhone about 3-4 months ago while sitting in someones apartment. It read "FBISURVEILLANCE" but cut off some of the last bit, so I'm assuming it would have said "VAN" after that if I could have read all of it.

I wondered what the hell it was...

hmm. intersting multiple claims here. if its true then its probably due to suspected drug trafficking. i've seen the road signs marking areas "intense drug activity". maybe they have some sort of blanket warrant to monitor wireless communications if an area, neighborhood or apartment complex, etc. has had many confirmed arrests, convictions, etc. for drug related or other illegal activity. IDK, not saying that's true but you never know what has been approved. then there's also the idea that they have a warrant to monitor a specific person and that to avoid problems in the court room, they label themselves as such, to avoid having a lawyer find some techinicalities about a defendant's case or any other cases that may come about because they end up incidentally intercepting neigboring communications, etc.

it's possible. anything is possible these days regarding surveillance but mostly surveillance targets drug trafficking because its the most prevelant crime that can be documented by surveillance and have that evidence used in court without any trouble.
