Employers ask job seekers for Facebook passwords--------WTF?
Interviewer: So what are your qualifications?
Interviewee: I'm analytical, punctual and have 10 years experience.
Interviewer: And what is your Facebook password?
Interviewee: My what?
Interviewer: Your password to gain access to your Facebook account. You see, the law says we can't discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, but fortunately the poor economy has given us a great excuse to demean you as human being.

Yep..for real..

Seattle - When Justin Bassett interviewed for a new job, he expected the usual questions about experience and references. So he was astonished when the interviewer asked for something else: his Facebook username and password.

Bassett, a New York City statistician, had just finished answering a few character questions when the interviewer turned to her computer to search for his Facebook page. But she couldn't see his private profile. She turned back and asked him to hand over his login information.

Bassett refused and withdrew his application, saying he didn't want to work for a company that would seek such personal information. But as the job market steadily improves, other job candidates are confronting the same question from prospective employers, and some of them cannot afford to say no.

Unbelievable..not shocking..I expect to see this..and worse in the future.

Our grandchildren need to be saved from this world.

Not the point, though, even though you are right..

It's not even the point that someone HAS a fb account, it's the fact that potential employers think they have the right to your password and log in info.

I mean..you can tell them you dont have a fb account..but would you STILL want to work for them?

I'm getting really sick of this attitude where everyone is in everyone's ass checking on every single thing a person does. We are HUMAN. Are are animals. No one is perfect.

agreed..and how dare they? I dont care if you have a fb account or not, what gives them the right to ask for ANY password..why not ask for the password for your bank account, or your email, as well.

Im sure, they would hire the next person with a fb account, and who gave them the password.

That is just stupid, if they asked for your debit card pin # would you have to give that up as well.

maybe it's a trick question and the correct response wasn't "no" it was, "I have an agreement with facebook to never give up my password to my account to anyone."

Well...in a confidential job situation, I could see it being a trick question...anyone else asking is creepy.

this is getting out of control, do we all just expect to have our privacy stripped away slowly while the government and corporations allow this to happen without reproach?

You could lie about not having a facebook but they would be able to pull you up and see you were lying. The other choice..make a facebook account only to give to businesses etc, have your regular one and the professional one.. Myself..I dont use facebook at all and never will.

According to the article..the interviewer DID pull up his fb account, and was unable to access it, so she asked for his password. Almost too hard to believe. That is when the gentleman pretty much said...you can take this job and...shove it.
