Has been going on for sometime in certain parts. We have to understand that those you go to may end up being your worst enemys in the end. Perhaps the most hope at first but the worst ones in the end. The man probably should have stayed home and enjoyed his last days instead, surely he was put through tons just going to the appointments. Govt is healthcare, how do they treat you right now? Do you trust them with your life right now? always? If not then why would anyone trust them if they were ill? If he was in Europe he should have stayed there and received help, most likely would be a higher standard for the most ill. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10364788 You do realize that privately-purchased health insurance IS a form of rationing, and by extension a de facto "death panel," right? The cut-off is determined by whether or not one can afford the insurance, and indeed if the insurance company decides to insure you (hmmm... I bet within each insurance company there is a group of people who review applications, looking for pre-existing conditions, weighing the risks, etc... sounds like a "panel" to me!) |

Says food and water were "rationed". Apparently he could not eat or drink, but was on some sort of artificial feeding. Ten days of not being able to eat, drink or talk????? It seems some people expect miracles when all is futile. THere comes a time to Let Go. |

Doctors are not Gods and they know it; they can't save everyone. Even if the family/insurance was willing to pay for his care, the hospital/doctors obviously knew their care was better given elsewhere, to the other patients who still had a fighting chance. It's not a warm and fuzzy answer, but it's the truth, and everyone needs to face that. |
