Great post OP! Never heard of the stuff.

"Memory wire" has been in use for years and used in hundreds of products, what the fuck are you on about. Its no secrect, you can buy the stuff in any hobby or robotics store.  Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was referring to the materials potential use in large scale power generation applications. And the lack of mainstream coverage of that application. Because there isn't a practical way to use Nitinol in power generation. Despite all the claims, it's probably going to be less efficient than current designs using steam, turbines etc. Running a small wheel on a bench is one thing, scaling it up to power station levels is something else entirely...
