It is my understanding that in most circumstances they do not, but sometimes they do... we see them survive the rotation now and then here you can see the sun as it was 26 days ago [link to www.solen.info] we can see just how much the surface has changed since the last rotation here is a nice list of all the reports we did about 1429 on My Solar Alerts [link to mysolaralerts.blogspot.com] we can see well the size of 1429 on the last rotation here we can see old sunspot region 1429 as it is today (top left area) [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] it looks to me like it may have grown some Last Edited by NiNzrez on 03/24/2012 03:01 PM Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! Eireann~ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20 |

These eruptions came from active region 1429 that has so far produced two X class flares, and numerous M-class flares.
