i just left my job of two years as a CPS social worker for NC, worked in GA for DFCS before that with worker from England. Our laws are changing monthly for the worse. we take guns for any report now, despite substantiated or not.

I was lead SWIII A/I&T. that meant i handled sex/ physical abuse with some neglect. there are federal monies for foster care placement, in which some goes to the acting dept. so there are incentives. LE, or police use us for getting into homes without search warrants just on our suspicion. Corruption abounds, especially with medicaid fraud, coupled with city, county managers with the DSS directors.

99% of workers get off on destroying families in court, and are pill addicts, miserable due to so much paperwork, and get into a frenzy with LE when it comes to invading houses. I was good and smart but could not believe the ugliness. i worked for two separate counties in NC, and a one in GA. Same everywhere, worse in large cities. in fact Atlanta was recently under federal receivership due to corruption. Savannah GA has thousands in foster care, and that is not kinship placement.

dear county letter come monthly that the feds send directors on all the new laws that keep getting added and changed, that are always more predatory. workers also have to train in homeland security stuff, supervisors anyway. if you actually want to keep families together, the supervisors will edit your paperwork to death to send a message of stop caring and destroy. for instance, a safety Ax and risk Ax is done on each report. the risk Ax determines if the child stays or not. done by points. if a mother is under 30 that is automatic points against. any previous reports, substantiated or not, points against. food stamps, medicaid, points. low income - points. bad car - points. of course criminal records, bad credit, school attendance issues -- points. workers are supposed to look for kinship, but those relatives have to pass home study and risk Ax too.

family court, workers, cops and lawyers on both sides play on facebook in the back and joke about the clients and taking kids. defense attorney too. ruining families is just something to do between lunch breaks and paper work. cops brag they don't have all the paperwork to destroy, and plus they get guns. cops routinely batter domestic call callers, beat up and push parents in front of kids, and yell and threaten callers or clients to make them cry and confess to something. i couldn't take it, i honestly couldn't believe it. i tried, but no way is anyone going to change the system, it changes you.
