Inquiries revealed that their statement was indeed ignored by the PD, and crime scene data matched their account of the incident.

It began to smell like a cover up, but the PD refused to back down. So more and more people started getting involved until finally, the story was picked up by the networks.

will someone please explain to me why this murder is getting so much attention? i understand it was an innocent child murdered in cold blood, but why aren't other cases like this given this much publicity?

Its getting so much attention because there were no charges filed. The investigation was closed without taking the proper steps to be sure there was not a crime. Zimmerman was not even given a test for drugs.

you do realize that trayvon was on top of zimmerman beating him silly when george shot him? george was begging someone to help and no one would... all they know how to do is run inside and lock the doors and call 911.

You can not go through the police academy if you are guilty of assaulting a cop.. duh! I know this because a relative is a cop, and it is common sense.

Why do you guys keep calling him "white-trash" or "redneck," he is Latino.. I also don't see how you call him racist, it is ridiculous.

As for gun training, it is part of the police academy training, which he had in 2008; as for the charge from 2005 that several people have brought up, if was serious then he would have not qualified for the police training. He had every right to have a gun, train for a gun, and use the gun if he felt threatened.
