Women who cut out red meat 'twice as likely to suffer from depression or anxiety' | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 11698818 Canada 03/25/2012 05:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been a vegetarian for several years. I feel the same both emotionally and physically as I did when I was eating meat. I became a vegetarian for ethical reasons - not because I thought it was healthier. Quoting: SallieSunshine I think for some people, too many carbs (esp. high glycemic index carbs) can cause them to feel unwell, both physically and emotionally. They should cut down on the grains, starchy vegetables and sweets and then see if their mood improves. yes, an allergy to gluten, and eating too much of bread, pasta, etc, has been linked to causing depression. |

If someone was on you all the time about your giving up coffee (or whatever)saying you're killing yourself and you need coffee to be healthy, you'd probably get depressed & anxious. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 7570540 United States 03/25/2012 06:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You sound anxious. Go out and get a nice juicy steak slathered in butter. Red meat is linked to cancer. It's def. not good for you. I'm proud to be a vegetarian. Meat doesn't have fiber so people who try to live on meat without adding fiber to their diet in some form might have some issues. People who eat a lot of processed meats might also have an issue because of the nitrites used as a preservative. But meat, in and of itself, is a healthy part of a recommended diet. Frankly, when you get right down to it, it's not the plant-based foods or the meat we eat in pure form which causes our obesity, cancers, and heart disease. Rather, it's the things such as MSG, hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, chemical additives, fried foods (acrylamides), etc. I've seen dozens of people make the claim that being a vegetarian is so much healthier but then they load up on fries, chips, soda, and doughnuts. Then they wonder why they have heart disease and other health issues. The best diets are those with the least amounts of processed foods. Keep it simple... |

I've given up meat several times, and I just seem to get weaker and more confused as the days go by. But I will say that during the growing season when we pick food straight off the plant, there is a feeling of well-being that we don't get from food that's been picked long ago. But we just need meat or we get all tired and weak. |

Everything in moderation people. And you believe this? It was a news paper article no doubt, I see them all the time. They are used as experiments to control and test the masses behaviour patterns. In a years time they will rescind that and say the opposite and give a product name that counteracts bad and offers health benefits. It is a load of old manipulating consumer surveys. |
