Must be some meaning to it (referring to the event in thread subject), although I have to admit I'm probably missing something.

Anyway I see a lot of symbolic value in connection to all the movies he's directed.

1. The Abyss was one of the first bigger movies to implement CGI FX with a quality that at that time dazzled a lot of moviegoers [tech]. The effect used sort of resembled the one on T1000 in T2: Judgement day, except being more transparent rather then liquid metallic.

Not to even go into the more direct correlation between this 1989 movie and Camerons 2012 deep sea expedition.

2. So we have the two (I'd say "main") Terminator movies. First one made in 1984 by the way. Both featuring action star Schwarzenegger as a Robot with human tissue - cyborg. John Connor = Jesus Christ etc., time travel, Judgment Day... Let's not go into all that hoopla. The symbolism and synchs lay thick on these ones.

Oh btw Linda Hamilton played Sarah Connor, J. C.s mother, and later James Cameron (J.C. again) wed her...

3. I'll skip Titanic this time.
Except it (the sinking) actually happened in 1912 and J. C.s deep diving hundred years later.

3. Last not least we have Avatar, the recent blockbuster that again ushered in a new level of movie tech asthe first hugely successful 3D movie. Never before could we get so immersed in a (mostly) digital dreamworld [tech] projected at us through special 3D glasses, bringing the movie closer than ever.

I "feel like" all this is hinting at something, but this is of course just one aspect of it. Could expound upon this at length, but am actually on my way out now, :) , will probably be back later...

I hate Him being depicted as a scrawny little man on the cross, can't stant the simple little wooden ones but I appreciate the crosses with more intriquite design.
