They have special servers installed at all of the switching stations if you will. They can mirror the audio with no symptom that you can tell. It is all very automated now. |

[link to www.wired.com] As an aside, all US phone billing is now performed by Amdocs. An Israeli company that feeds all phone transaction records to Israeli intel. Not so much the content of the calls here, but Israel gets a list of who everybody called and how long the call was for, etc. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8847784 This is the correct answer if it is the Government tapping your phone. If it is a friend or regular person then it could be tapped by the old method of installing a physical device. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 13221842 United States 03/27/2012 01:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The mere fact that you have an operational phone means IT IS TAPPED. This was evident at the ten year anniversary of 911, when all these cell calls were played on TV. Someone, somewhere, has been grabbing every call of every nature for a long, long time. My pop used to work for a big phone company as an electrical engineer in the 1970's. He told us that he could, at a switching station, listen to people in their homes even though the phone was hung up. He said that though the phone is hung up, there is no break in the line and it is wide open to those who want to listen to your conversations. Cell phones are no different. They have two batteries - one you can remove and one you can't remove (without difficulty). When you pull out the main battery, it is still powered by a little battery and even when it is technically "off", it's really on. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13221842 thats crazy, i never knew that..i assume this could be good for certain occasions to get someone out of trouble perhaps..technology never seems to amaze me..and to the "physical device" comment, since most of the talking is now done on cellphones, i doubt connecting something to someones phone would be sneaky lol its all digital i assume...other methods of monitoring that are pretty neat in my opinion are android apps like sms tracker...it tracks all messages sent and received and with premium membership it also tracks all calls made and received as well as all web pages browsed through the browser..pretty cool huh>? good way to keep your kids in check and out of trouble |
