This isn't an ankle-bender league either. It's mostly former college and junior hockey players in their mid twenties to early thirties. If you're Canadian think "senior A" level.

There was even a line brawl tonight...Luckily I grabbed a guy that was equally as disinterested in 'fightin' as I was. Not really worth the effort and bruises in Mens league ffs.

Anyways...

I'm pretty pumped up about it.

Thanks. I'm still sore from playing two nights in a row.

If I were a betting man, I would say the Bruins will be out by the second round...maybe sooner.

I will still be rooting for them though!

Absolutely. Best American pro hockey players have come from New England...more specifically the Greater Boston area. I played with a few guys that play in the NHL now.

I grew up in the Boston area. I live near Providence now.

Congrats OP!! I played hockey (both women's and on some men's pickup teams) in my twenties. Loved it! (For the record, I'm not a behemouth, just a petite woman who loves the sport). Played left wing.

+1 for hockey.

Hitting in this league? (Most men's leagues around me do not have hitting because it's too much liability and things quickly spiral out of control after some reckless actions by a few individuals)

One could argue that the Minnesota/Wisconsin area has churned out more hockey talent.... Minnesota much more similar to Canada when it comes to the popularity of the sport.

It's a no check league. You can bump and pin someone against the boards though. Just no blatant body checks.

Yeah, it's because of liability issues and the fighting that would happen if they let guys check.

Lucky you man, wish I could still play but can't afford health insurance. I'm in my 50's but can still skate good, no beer gut, but even in the over 40's/no-checking leagues guys get carried away because its all instinct; your instinct takes over and next thing you're planting some guy into the boards. Last time I played 10 years ago got knocked on my tailbone and was limping for 2 weeks so knew I had to hang it up. Damn, I miss hockey.

Grab yourself a pair of inline skates and go skate at an outdoor rink sometime. Better than nothing right? Here in the Northeast we have inline rinks all over the place. I've been playing inline hockey for 20 years now. There is a network of individuals that I play pick-up (inline) hockey with and we've got individuals as young as 18 years old and individuals as old as 45 that skate with us.

I would say Minnesota produces the most players but
in terms of overall productive NHL players, Massachusetts holds the title.

Massachusetts - If you took data from Central Scouting's Database on Place of Birth and/or a similar Database such as the NHLPA's put it in Microsoft Excel and select count, Massachusetts has put out the highest number of NHL players both per capita and overall. This is due to the Bobby Orr Effect, Prestigious Prep Schools, and the large amount of French Canadian influence on its population, and the fact that Massachussetts is one of the 3 richest states in the US - Hockey is not cheap. So Statistically - The road to the NHL for a North American player goes through "The Hub of Hockey" Boston Metro North and Boston Metro South, thats purely players raised in MA if you took the players that made the pros from MA schools it would be significantly higher. Statewise- Then it would be British Columbia, MN, NY, and MI. Try it out Download the data to Excel.
