Do you believe in God or a higher power? WHY?

I'll get the ball rolling.

I'll start with something not as deep, but truly something done by prayer.


This was back in early 2010. I was in college and was getting fed-up of sitting and listening to biased professors and pointless assignments which would not help me in the real world. So I decided to take a semester off and look for a job. Keep in mind that this was a tough time in the economy. (which is ongoing)

I started applying online to many different companies and one company that stuck out was Bank of America. I had a feeling in my heart that I would get this job. Idk why? I prayed to God that night that I get a call back for an interview.

And sure enough the next morning I had a call for a phone interview and that led to a face to face interview and within two days I had the job. The thing is that the position I applied for usually had multiple obstacles such as online assessments and multiple interviews. In my case I just had a phone interview and face to face where I got the job right away. Some may call it luck, but I believe the prayer worked.

I no longer work there. But this trend has continued happening for me. I apply for a job, pray, and get a call back within a few days. ALWAYS. I hear of people who look and apply for months with no luck. But for some reason I always get an interview... It can not just be luck. I hear some people are destined to have certain things in life. I thank God that he has helped me so far financially.

Yes .Firstly because I know Him and have seen Him and secondly because I have seen His deeds.

Op you mean to say that god has helped u financially .yet there are millions of people who go to bed each night without even eating.. doesn't god listen to their prayers?

I don't want to believe, I want to know. I KNOW there is an Infinite Consciousness/Unconditional Love/Source of all Creation. I also KNOW the biblical god is NOT Infinite Consciousness.

Every living thing has energy. Energy can not be created nor destroyed. Maybe Ants don't have a higher purpose like us advanced humans, but maybe their energy or whatever they do benefits the law of nature somehow in which we do not know as of yet.

By the very fact that you would even ask such a question.
Evolution would not have produced a self questioning being in search of meaning. Inefficient and dangerous in the survival of the fittest motif to be pondering "God or a higher power".

There is no evolutionary need to create the idea of God.

It is because God exists that we are drawn to Him and crave meaning and purpose BEYOND this life.

When my husband and I first moved to the Dallas area, we were really poor. He was out of town that day, about 8pm I drove to the nearest drug store to pick something up. Anyway I had my little poodle with me. I got out of the car and locked it with the keys laying on the seat. What a dummy, I put both hands on the drivers side window and I remember thinking I could break the glass out.

I decided to go into Eckerds and ask to borrow their phone and call a locksmith, I would have to give them a hot check because we did not have enough money in the checking account to cover the check I would have to write. Anyway I walked into Eckerds and the line was very long, I stood in line for about three minutes when I felt something cutting into my hand, I looked down and my keys where in my hand. I got out of line went to the car and drove home. I was amazed at what God had done for me. I did not even think to ask Him to help me, He just did. Other things have happened over the years but nothing as good as this. Thank you Lord

God has helped me in many ways... not just financially.

Everything and everyone has a purpose. Every living thing is worth something. We just don't know for what though. Many can speculate, but we don't know for sure.

Everything has cause and effect.

If I raped and tortured your child . . . would you unconditionally love me and require no justice for the crime?

Thank God, He is Love AND Justice. You don't know much at all let alone that the biblical God is NOT Infinite Consciousness.

Yes he does. Like I said everything has a purpose. No life goes wasted.

Yes I do. I could go on forever as to "why". I've known since I was a child instinctively that God is real. I've always looked at every creation and marveled at the intricate details of even plants and animals and their beautiful differences. He has answered untold amounts of Prayers that I can't begin to number there are so many. He has protected me at every turn, saving my life several times once where I actually crossed over so I could raise my children who I love amongst many other reasons He wanted me back for. I'm still finding those reasons out, it's a lifetime job..lol
