Gravity is the 4th Dimension
I was enlightened to this idea after reading "Extraterrestrial Physics 101:Gravity is the 4th Dimension", which some of you may already be familiar with. The scientifc evidenice proposed is quite facsinatinating and I urge everyone to check it out.

The basic idea is... while astronomers and others acknowledge that the universie is expanding, they fail to make one very important connection. That everything in the universe is expanding at the same rate. With a much more in depth analysis in the book, we learn that one very possible explanation is that the rate of the expansion of the universe is actually 32 ft a second, the same as the gravitational pull. The author theorizes with much evidence that gravity is not a downward pull, but the force of acceleration of the universe. Therefore a tennis ball does not drop at 32ft a second, but rather, the earth itself expands to meet/strike the tennis ball. Keep in mind, everything, including the tennis ball and even yourself, are also expanding at this rateIdol1. This theory encompasses and correlates with all the laws of gravity we know of, it simply goes one step further to actually tell us what gravity is, and where it comes from.

Now most of us know that time is the 4th dimension, yet until reading this, it was very hard for me to grasp a mental picture of this. The line connecting our future and past selves is our 32 ft a second expansion. A pretty radical scientic discovery if you ask me! Why this is not taught in every school is beyond me.

If you are interested in learning more, check out the book. It is rare but can be found used on Amazon. It goes further to scientifically explain electricity to be the 5th, and magnetism to be the 6th dimension. I have nothing to gain from advertising this book, I just thought this theory would be pretty suitable to a forum such as this, and being a brand new memebr, wanted to throw a bone.

Anyways, peace love and harmony my brothers and sisters!

I'm having a little trouble with this . Are you saying the earth is expanding in all directions to the tune of 32' per second ? As well as the Universe itself .

Quick point. There's a difference between velocity and acceleration. The 32ft/sec number is for acceleration.

Re: Gravity is the 4th Dimension
Naaa.......

First of all dont you mean 32.174 ft/s2 (ie, feet per second per second)? Gravity is one of the strings in Michio Kaku's string theory. In that sense, it is a higher dimension and is theorized to span matter in 4-D including dark matter. Gravity can be thought of as working by bending or deforming spacetime. This has been proven quantitatively by observing starlight deformation when passing a sufficiently massive object such as our sun (SOL).

Admittedly, although the effects of gravity are well quantified for practical use, the actual true nature of it is not really understood.

And it is true that the universe expands from all points at the speed of light. There therefore is no central point or backward extrapolated point for the origin of the "big bang". As such, you can confidently state that it began right in the middle of your living room or even between your ears.

^^What he said.^^^

If anything, it would be a 'lower dimension'.
Well, atleast from a mystic's standpoint.

Re: Gravity is the 4th Dimension
So, as expected many people are reluctant to accept this theory. To the person tlaking about space time bending without gravity, I did not really understand how that discredits this theory, but doesnt Einsteins test with clocks on spacecrafts, and showing that with less gravitational resisitance outside of earths atmosphere, time itself changes. This shows what happens without gravity, it affects time (because they are one and the same). For those of you that are simply skeptics, I truly urge you to read the book. Its scientific foundation is very in depth, and after reading you will be forced to admit this theory does not have any scietific holes in it.
Also to the person talking about velocity and acceleration, I did not follow you at all. I was saying that this theory explains that graivty is caused by the circular expansion of everything in the universe, and that interia is what causes gravity to collide with falling objects. Anyways, while skepticism is good, I have seen the science to back this theory, and truly beleive this is fact. Keep your minds open! Much love!

Re: Gravity is the 4th Dimension
What a coincidence that I happened to find this thread. I was sitting on my couch and thinking about gravity, trying to find another perspective.

Then it struck me. Obvious. Gravity is more a dimension than a force. And while we have been trying to explain and study it as a force we have come up with explanations like gravitons that have yet to be seen. Models developed to describe the gravity as a force mislead us, because it might not be a force at all.

Sure we can observe the effects of gravity. We can create beautiful visualizations of curved space or even time, but hey now! - is it causing "curving" kind of effects in three dimensions or adding one we just didn't realize because it was so obvious?

If we observe the effects that a third dimension would have on a perceived two dimensional universe, we could very well see something similar than we see when gravity effects three dimensional universe. And in that two dimensional universe, we would probably start explaining and studying the effects of the third dimension as a force, rather than a dimension.
Right?

If the expansion theory is true, ok. If some other of the theories that see gravity as a dimension is true, fine. But I strongly doubt that studying gravity as a force is studying a projection of a dimension and will not lead too far too soon.

(Intentionally left the time out as the 4th dimension to clarify things, time has to be studied further)

Re: Gravity is the 4th Dimension
there is something to this. when i was young and studying relativity the thing that occurred to me is that time would not exist without gravity. it goes back to that particular explanation of gravity, that describes it as being the result of displacement of space and time. this is a bad explanation and someone who is better with words can state it better, but remember the phrase "gravity well?" it coupled with the explanation that if you got closer to the event horizon of a black hole that time would continue to slow down till it stopped. hawking i think said that you would never actually notice reaching a black hole because in your universe time stopped even though everyone else may have seen it. it occurred to me that this just doesn't make sense because time would move at different rates throughout the universe. this theory makes a certain amount of sense except for one thing...doesn't the hammer fall on the moon slower than it does on earth because it has a different gravitational pull?
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Re: Gravity is the 4th Dimension
There are several theories, one is more known Kaluza-Klein. Some are really interesting like Heim theory with 6 dimensions which were later extended by Droscher to 12 for different forces, etc. Interesting it is as it can predict particle properties and there is real mystery with Eugene Podkletnov and Martin Tajmar effects (artificial gravity).

terminal velocity is 60ft per second not 32ft per second
as everything seems to be moving away from us [the observer] at the speed of light maybe it is US that is shrinking at the speed of light and everything els is static bar rotation.
gravity is the monopole internal electromagnetic attraction point of the spherical body we call earth, internal attractions with external repulsions.

Re: Gravity is the 4th Dimension
time itself could be nothing more than a byproduct of the 4th dimension (gravity). taken this in account we might need a new theory of relativity.
