Just checked out Solar Dynamics Obs and most of the inages only show half the sun and the ones showing the full sun look weird! Anyone know what's going on?

It really looks like either a damaged camera or something obscuring the sun from the camera's vantage point.

not only that, they are switching out the pictures. When i click on the "half sun" ones an entirely different picture comes up.

This occurred on 16 March as well. Have a look at the below link and step through the images.

Parts that are blacked out by the "eclipse" actually have orange sparks flying out of the Sun on top of the black areas which loosks a bit strange.

It would be nice to know what is eclipsing the sun.

That's what I gather - it's either very close to the camera or VERY large. And as someone else pointed out, it's happened a couple of times recently!
