Well it looks like this thread is derailed. But regardless yes the movie is racist and cast the wrong character's for the role. It's a slanderous evil, entertaining movie.

Those have to be troll posts. I mean, I know humans are mostly retarded, but damn! These are supposed to be people who have actually read the books, right?

Re: That racist movie - The Hunger Games...
We saw it Sunday, my son has read the books, I haven't yet...he said the girl in the book is black, so what's the problem? Personally I couldn't give a damn less...it's a good movie though!
 Quoting: BRIEF

They are black in the book. The only one who potentially isn't is Kravitz' character.

It isn't a big deal to me, either. I just found it ironic that the MSM is still trying to spread the hate, since they seem to be failing on the Treyvon Martin case, as I took notice of during the rally in Detroit.
 Quoting: ifSHTF

Cinna is black or of mixed ethnicity in the book. The author was pretty explicit.
 Quoting: Girl Genius

i tried finding it in there - it was just that he was in a black suit. where did it say he was black or mixed? not that it matters much, I just couldnt find it.
 Quoting: ifSHTF

The only physical description is that he had brown hair, and wore gold eyeliner that set off the gold flecks in his green eyes.

Re: That racist movie - The Hunger Games...
I read the books and I thought the casting was spot on...etnicities and all. Except for Katniss who I pictured a little more feminine. But she still did a great job.

Anyone who was shocked at which characters were black have very poor reading comprehension.

I think the book specifically said Cinna was not flamboyant, I think that is what Katniss was expecting and was surprised that he wasn't.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1255818

This is what I remember as well. Katniss was expecting a flamboyant Capital type character before she met Cinna. Instead Cinna was very mellow and Katniss found him very normal. His only hint at Capital extravagance is his gold eyeliner. I think many readers that interpreted Cinna as flamboyant were simply projecting gay stereotypes on a creative character that uses words like "fabulous."

As for Rue, I thought she was dark skinned with long blond hair. I no longer have the book so I can't find any description that would make me think that. But honestly I don't see what difference it makes casting her as a black girl. The relationship that Katniss and Rue have is powerful and important to the story. As long as that is properly conveyed, the race of the character is unimportant.

Re: That racist movie - The Hunger Games...
Wake up, folks. Hollywood declared war on Christ from is inception.
This evil movie is just another gnostic movie bent on evil.

We are told to test the spirits, and my gut feelings is that this movie does not proclaim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Please, cease and desist on this movie. It's another Satanic deception. Rev 12:9 tells us that Satan has already deceived the whole world, even the very elect.

Accept Christ, folks. Guard what you hear, see and eat...
 Quoting: VRWil 1189609

Forget the race question in this franchise. The absence of God should be more troubling for anyone who proclaims themselves a Christian. Yet again, like Harry Potter, we have the one hero who can save. But only Jesus can save.

A lot have described this movie/book as a cautionary tale. Do you think it's going to change anything? No. People will just go back to playing Facebook games or staring at their iPads/cell phones and standing in line, waiting for the TSA to fondle them. At any rate we already have a real life cautionary tale in the stories from Nazi Germany.

Rue is SUPPOSED to be black. She was black in the book. I don't understand how anyone missed that.

Saying 'white' is racist, also.

Haven't read the book. So tell me, is it set in the U.S.A.? Are all the characters American?

Re: That racist movie - The Hunger Games...
Im rereading the book, and it says that Rue has black skin and dark eyes, but her personality is that of Primm's. I dont see anything racist in the hunger games, just like I dont see it being evil. As a Christian, I get sick and tired of other christian who thinks everything is evil and being satantic, people its time to adapt, and not everything is evil. If you cant see the good in something over than your bible.

Re: That racist movie - The Hunger Games...
If you give a little white girl a black baby doll to play with, she wants a white one. And a little black girl wants to have a black baby doll. It's just human nature.
 Quoting: Keats 1369739

One problem with this statement, science has proven as well as marketing that the black girl will prefer to play with the white doll.

Hey I don't make this stuff up, liberals do these tests.

 Quoting: Masiro

I know you're not making it up, it's true. tThe reason is black girls watch television, see magazines, and books. There's the constant re-enforcement that blond, blue eyed white skinned is the epitome of beauty so that's the dolls they want.
