Help required: Natural methods to cure slipped disc.
Does anyone know of any natural methods ( except an operation ) to help cure a slipped disc ? I know someone who has had this problem ongoing for two years now. It's been life-changing, a real handicap. They have tried all sorts of massages, acupuncture, pilates and numerous exercises but nothing has helped.

Thanks in advance for help and advice.

Re: Help required: Natural methods to cure slipped disc.
In tissue removed from damaged discs, more than half were infected with the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and Corynebacterium propinquum.

In the pilot study, 29 patients with lower back pain and these bone changes were given the antibiotic amoxicillin-clavulanate for three months.

Following treatment, 52 per cent of the patients reported that they were much better or cured and 24 per cent were moderately better.

Corynebacterium propinquum. Vancomycin.

P. acnes tetracycline, carnitine, vitamin A, biotin

There aren't any.
Surgery is the only way to fix it but you practically have to beat the shit out of a GP to get a referral.
It's a nightmare, ask me how I know this.

I don't think it will cure it, but a PEMF (pulsed electro magnetic frequency) machine may really help with the pain (see the video I posted below)

I have back pain and I use mine at least 2 times a week

Depending on where your friend is, I may be able to help find him someone who has one of these, and he can go for a session to see if it helps him.

If he is by me, I would let him use mine for nothing.

Otherwise usually practitioners charge something but will make adjustments for someone in need

Sorry to hear this OP, back pain can be awful and really makes it hard to focus on other things we like to do

Hi, thanks for replying.
A private doc advised surgery to shave off the protruding part of the disk (he himself would have performed the surgery), but many people advised against this as once you've done that you cannot rebuild normal back strength and who knows the consequences of this surgery years down the road.

Re: Help required: Natural methods to cure slipped disc.
The bacteria eats away and weaken the disk cartilage that holds the jelly like stuff in place. When the bacteria is killed the cartilage heals up and the jelly goes back inside.

The bone swelling goes away and the disk goes back in place.

Too simple and cheap for modern medicine to make a profit.

SAMe will help it heal faster and relive pain.

it's true about the bacteria...so many of our physical ailments have a virus or bacteria at their root

eliminating sugars and starches and following a diet to reverse acidity in the body can help so many things by merely helping to reduce the extra burden on the immune system

Regarding the PEMF machine, it was originally invented by a physicist in europe named Dr Papimi

Research the "Papimi" website, and you can see testimonials from people who had conditions like your friend's:

[link to www.papimi.biz]

Thats just one I saw, there are others

In europe I know they use Papimis to even cure cancer, but you're not allowed to say that, becauase it will bring down the wrath of the big pharma companies

Essentially, there are many ways to approach the same problem: a break down in the body's ability to repair itself.

The solution is usually multi prong:

1) remove the burden (whether physical, toxic, viral or a combinatino of these) off the system

2) help the body recharge its batteries so it can do what it needs to do

the Papimi, which is sort of a tesla machine, helps the body recharge and some say it regenerates and awakens the adult body's own stem cells... this is why you see stories of near miracles from some people who use it

each person, of course, is different, so no promises no guarantees

I will check with a buddy in Germany to see if there is a place there which has them available, but I believe in the UK you should be able to find a holistic practitioner or chiropractor using one

Good luck, and let me know how it works out for him!

Re: Help required: Natural methods to cure slipped disc.
Other than deep relaxation (tension causes spasms), gentle but regular muscle building exercise (the muscles help support the spine), and plenty of bed-rest -- I've found that taking Dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate) in fairly large doses (1000+ mg or so / day) does wonders for the pain. It usually takes a day or so for the minerals to work, but well worth it to me.

For my neck condition (a slipped and degenerated disk, from a childhood fall), I find the best exercise is to ~slowly and easily lift small weights (up to 5 lbs per arm). I lift each side, or both at the same time (whatever feels best). Be careful not to bop yourself on the head, if you try this. This exercise also helps with the pain after I've built my muscles up some (at least a few days).

I had a microdiskectomy almost 2 years ago. It definitely feels better than before but I now doubt I'll ever be pain free. However, my neurosurgeon did tell me that the nerve regrowth and repair is very slow. I still get the shooting stabbing pain in various spots on my leg and foot and part of my leg is permanently numb. In fact, until the leg was seriously involved, surgery was off the table as an option.

I share all this with you OP just to say there are no natural cures I am aware of although for 'natural' pain management, ice and heat and magnesium (soaking with Epsom salt in the bath or using a magnesium chloride spray) have helped me some.

Here's a yahoo group:

And here's someone who has a papimi, apparently in the UK, and a facebook page called papimiUK:

Treatments for PEMF Devices

by Papimi UK on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 12:33am ·

The PEMFs are used extensively to help cure racehorses who otherwise would be put down for injuries

in fact, thats how I first heard about one

my feeling is: if it works on a horse, it's not a placebo effect

the horse versions are usually called PEMF, and you may find someone in the country who treats horses (they'll do humans too, lol, they usually just don't want the hassle or being called quacks)

Also, if you can afford it (and can find a ~good chiropractor) -- they have a 'traction machine' that stretches your neck for you.

However, I had to ask my therapist to "pull and hold" for 15 min at a time (instead of repeated pulls and releases over the same timeframe). Pulling-and-holding is much gentler on my neck. (Pulling and releasing over and again is very painful and injurious for me).

Re: Help required: Natural methods to cure slipped disc.
Glad to help

I was trying to find a good summary of what this is, and this is a decent one from a NZ page:

[link to www.2bwell.co.nz]

I don't know why so many holistic healing services and devices seem to have such terrible websites, lol. (The Papmi site out of greece is just awful, and frankly, if that were my first introduction to the machine I would be turned off too)

but you know, the proof is in the pudding. One or two sessions would tell you immediately if it was helping. It doesn't hurt to keep an open mind and trying something which is non-invasive (as long as he doesn't have a pacemaker or ferrous plate in his body, it has no known adverse impact)

I personally believe there are inventions and technologies in this world that we are unaware of, but which could help eliminate so much human pain and distress if they were made known.

However, they would also eliminate a major source of income for the major corporations, so we never hear about them. Therefore we must go out looking and if we pull the thread, we may get lucky and find that pot of gold

again, best of luck!

Ouch ouch ouch... it's the worst kind of pain.

There are two types of chiropractors, if you're brave enough to try. I only just learned this a couple of months ago.

1) straight chiropractors- they believe every ailment in the human body can be cured eventually with proper spinal adjustments.

2)mixed chiropractors- they suggest other therapies as well- whatever they may be. Stretches, Ice therapy and other things.

I hear some chiropractors are quacks and some are miracle workers.

Maybe you can find a miracle worker?

Re: Help required: Natural methods to cure slipped disc.
Look up the 'rag doll' yoga posture. It is designed to unstack, then, restack your spine.

Following an almost fatal car accident some years ago, one of the nasty outcomes was 5 degenerated disks in my back. There were times I could not even hold things in my arms, and, sitting, walking, standing and lying down was murder. Sometimes I would have to press against a door frame for some small measure of relief.

Then I sought out a chiropractor. I needed three sessions a week for some nine months, then two to finally once a week during the course of almost one year, before the treatment stabilized into a 'lasting' relief, but, I was finally sufficiently aligned.

This pain has never gone away, yet, I now use a combination of the ragdoll alignment, and, a Homemedic programmable Percussion massager, to keep myself relatively pain free. Keeping fit, along with a pure diet helps tremendously.

Uppper body fitness is very helpful, because the use of arms for laborious tasks can debilitate you within no time if your muscles have lost their tone.

Lastly, correct posture is key...whether you are sitting or standing. Try to train yourself to not slouch when sitting...this can undo your alignment quickly. One trick is to imagine a cord attached to the top of your head, pulling you upward...this straightens your spine.

Your goal should be to get to the point where your spine is balanced enough that you are not exerting undue pressure on your disks. In time, the swelling will diminish, as long as you strive to allow the disks to align, then, keep them aligned.

My road has been a couple decades long. Although I am never without some degree of pain, I can now hike, dance, use heavy tools...whatever I so desire... with little or no problems. No more sciatica, no more pins and needles, no more compromised organ function...as long as I treat my spine kindly.

Good luck!

Hi, that sounds excruciating, I am very sorry to hear that because my friend has one slipped disc and it has totally changed his life for the last two years. He can't drive, can't pick up his three year old son and so many other things that he used to take for granted. I can't imagine how you cope with three ruptured discs. I'm sorry you had to resort to surgery, it is something my friend is trying to avoid. I hope your back improves and maybe some of the advice we are getting on this thread might help you too. Have him research the Mckenzie method. That is what helped me with my herniated disc and I didn't need surgery. Mine was in very bad shape. Sounds like his doctor is after $$$$$$$$$ So try the Mckenzi method and have a positive attitude and do visualizations of a healthy spine. Worked for me, and I was in very bad shape.

Stem cells could cure so many back problems as it would rebuild the discs. But we can't have any of that know can we. And no you don't need stem cells from Fetuses, that is just a lie. Big pharama doesn't want to cure you, they want to treat you at a huge expense. Someday when stem cells injections are legal, many people's issues will be cured.
