You won't have to empty your ashtrays or have pop cans of butts sitting around.

But the cig high is worth it all, it's the little heroine habit it is. Keep on smoking, it's a legal high in most places.

If you smoke less than 10 a day I wouldn't worry about it

Good advice...be wary though of the chemicals that they throw in for "extras".

Addiction is addiction is addiction....if someone can figure out how the addictive brain works...they would be gold. It is the Manic brain...the portion of the brain that is manic...gotta gotta gotta have, whether it is drugs, smokes, alcohol, gambling, shopping....it is the I gotta gotta do it..manic nature!

So...more study needs to be done in that area!

For those of us who quit, How many minutes per day do you think about smoking?

Myself, none most days. If I do think about it, it's for just a minute or two. It's lots better without the darn things.
 Quoting: FierySky

I quit Jan 8th cold turkey. I dont think about them much but I am hell of proud of myself. Cigs no longer control me. Yeah sometimes i romanticize them and the ritual but all in all I'm happy with the decision to quit.

Allen Carr The easyway to quit smoking. Watch that video.

Btw I smoked 2 packs a day for 15 years.

Smoking is awesome

You die sooner

You stink so pussy nonsmokers keep their distance

You look cool

You are protected spiritually

Aliens think you stink too

Yea its selfish, so do nice things to make up for your relatives hating it

Overall if you think about it, life is tiring and I'd like to go at like 70 or 80, not 100! Too long in this matrix hell

Don't let anything control you, death does not come from cig withdrawals

I smoke roll yer owns, with filters, and it seems much better and less chemical tasting than the normal cigs

After 20 years of smoking, recently found out I have an abdominal aortic aneurism (smoking is a risk factor). Luckily found out before open surgery became necessary. Will have surgery to install a stent in a few weeks. Lucky I have VA medical--or would cost thousands of $$$

Re: Need reason to quit tobacco, any?
Trying to bite my tongue here....

I've just sat in the hospital this past week with my younger brother as he suffered yet another small heart attack/stroke.

This is his 4th in 1 1/2 years and it's all due to beer and cigs.

His doctor told him last time if he didn't stop he'd soon be dead so I guess he wants to die.

He's not overweight and has always been healthy until this marriage he's in.

I don't excuse his desire to try and work it out (7+ years of pure hell now) but Geez!

Find a better stress-buster.

He has plenty of dollars for those two items but can never seem to afford his $60 monthly meds that would at least prolong his death so he can actually GET to the cancer stage.

So the reason, as I see it?

Those who love you very much. Your habit and its consequences are killing US as well.

You have no idea how many tears we've shed when we leave you- thinking it may well be the last time.

Sorry. But it's just incredibly selfish on your part.

If you can't do it for yourself please thing of all the people who will o through hell once they get that "call".

Re: Need reason to quit tobacco, any?
I smoke, and am NOT proud of it. I quit each time I was pregnant (have 3 boys), and WHY I started back up each time is beyond me - stupid!

A year ago I smoked at least a pack a day, usually 1 1/2 packs. I have cut down to about 8 cigs a day, and am trying to keep going. Eventually I will just stop. I've tried the patches, the gums, even that horrible medication Chantix (which is awful!!! Made me feel so so so sick, gave me weird dreams, but the sickness was the worst - I literally could hardly function, and that was not ok with a (at the time) 5 and 2 year old!!!) Cold turkey is the way I'm gonna do it, well hopefully! =)

Addicts are selfish by nature. Addiction is difficult at best to overcome. I think Midgy is quite self-righteous. There is a program called Al Anon that deals with this lack of understanding and as well as irresponsibility for ones own emotional problems that are a side affect of misunderstanding the disease of substance abuse and so there.

The aorta is the main artery in the human body. Cigarette smoke weakens that artery so that it stretches--aneurism. Aspirin is no protection.

Re: Need reason to quit tobacco, any?
A few years back (15yrs, damn time flies) I was running 7/8 mi/day, usually about the 1/2 point I would stop get my breath and smoke a FUCKING CIGGERETTE!! One day I was doing my usual routine and lit one up and said to myself, "self what in the fucking world are you doing, am I fucking insane!!". So I threw away the cigs and did not smoke for about 7/8 yrs. Addiction is a relentless wary beast.

When I heard about that mans accident with his e-cig blowing up his face is when I actually looked into them seriously.

There are so many different makes and models. Suited to every type of person.

I'm over a month off of tobacco and feel great about it. I am still having my nicotine in vapor form.

Check out the e-cig forums. They have a mountain of info and are very newbie friendly. If you have questions, they'll have answers.

Re: Need reason to quit tobacco, any?
You may develop a disease related to smoking that is difficult to diagnose at first. Your doctors and family will think its all in your head.
But really something is terribly wrong that you can feel but is too early to define.
So you can't even recieve pallative care or surgery, or anything else to make you comfortable.
They'll only believe you when you end up having a medical emergency and nearly die or do or when it is finally diagnosed it's too late to do anything about it.
Or you develop cancer, or a pulmonary embolism.
Or something like that.
Speaking from experience.

I don't understand why people start smoking in the first place.

I smoke weed. It has a purpose... it gets you high.

Smoking cigs only makes you stink, yellows your teeth, blackens your lungs, costs too much, and puts a stigma on you. There is no benefit to smoking cigs.

Re: Need reason to quit tobacco, any?
I decided I should dump this nasty habit smoking cigs. Most people seem to despise the things and I can't really blame them. I use to smoke a lot more when I was drinking but stopped drinking 3yrs ago. Now 1 pack of buts will last me between 3/5 days. I really enjoy sitting back and having a smoke now and then but I know it is not good for me. Hell if I quit I might be around a little longer and not miss out on too much Doom and Gloom GLP stuff.
Any advice might be appreciated.

In my case I used the gum for nearly 9mos. Totally worked on me as long as I kept on with the gum. At the beginning of month #9 I started to chew less and it wasn't as hard to quit as I thought. Before I tried the gum I tried and failed over and over for three years. Damn near gave up.

Unless she smokes too, women don't want to kiss a smoker. Do it for the girls man.....those lovely girls.

This is from the pinned thread "What Is The Biggest Problem YOU Have Going On In Your Life Right Now That You Need Help With?" - Page one:

I was told today that I have lung cancer. I am sitting here in shock right now although I should not be. I have no one to blame but myself. I have smoked a pack of cigarettes a day forever. I am 51 years old. Other than this I am healthy and will do everything medically possible to survive this. I put down the cigarettes at 1 pm today and have not even really had withdrawal symptoms. I am sure they will come but they aren't here yet.

I don't know how to tell my son and my husband had a stroke last year and can't really take care of himself. He is 56.

You can't help with any of this but thanks for asking.

Smoke away! By the time you'd have any serious cancers we're all long gone anyway from this stinking ball of smoking shit we call Earth. hf
Love is not the game, life is.

Yesterday i got my e-Cigarette and "inhale" the Mist,
it works, i stopped since yesterday and i am a very strong
Smoker since ca. 30 Years!

Price was ca. 60USD,
maybe one of the best investments
since many years!

I hate Smoking, it is disgusting
but i couldn't stop it, maybe now!
 Quoting: Atom-Boy

I am now since 30 Hours on E-Cigarettes,
they work very well. in fact i even got
a Kick from the Nicotine!

This Morning my Wife kissed me for the first Time
since Months, she hate to kiss a Ashtray in the Morning
(but she done it later after her first Breakfast)
but now there is no smell in my Body!

I smoked one Pac of American Spirit Light a Day,
what many People do not know is that there is 150%
more Tobacco inside than on the Average like Marlboro/ Camel or Hi-Light!

So instead of 20 Cigarettes i smoked 30!

When i refill the Cartridge i will spend ca. 1,25 USD. a Day
for my stupid, hedonistic Desire!

With the Money i save i want to visit a Soap-land!
