The worst part was the smell.... and scraping up the coagulated bleed with a paint scrapper.

:cowgal: It could have been worse. You where lucky that someone wasn't killed in an upstairs apartment, with all the blood and soaking into the plaster of the bedroom below. Then slowly saturating it, until in the middle of the night a great big peace drops off and falls onto the sleeping woman in the bedroom below.

PS: Will whatever relative who gets the dudes estate be getting the rental deposit back?

and hell no on the deposit. they trashed the place. this is a fairly nice house in a not so nice part of town.

Bleach doesn't destroy the enzymes...you need an enzyme cleaner to properly clean. Did you bother to get OSHA certified? You would know this if you had. BTW, my roomate is currently studying to be a crime scene cleaner. And while you don't NEED to be OSHA certified, you probably don't know what you are doing if you didn't take the time to learn. It's not that long of a course and it is extremely helpful information. Look into it if you haven't.

You could probably specialise in that if you can cope with it, there would be a higher rate of pay because of bodily fluids and general yuck. Isn't there a balm you stick under your nose (like in autopsies) for the smell?

:blinker: I dunno about that one actually. If it was me I'd consider going to small claims court over it. Now if it had happened during the party then the deceased would be responsible because he invited them in. And I think I'd accept the argument that he was responsible for his guests.

But when they came back after being kicked out they where not guests. I'd use the analogy of: Suppose the tenant was a little old lady of 80 murdered as she slept. She surely was not at fault.

Also, since the cimials haven't been caught, did you get approval from the PD to remove the evidence? You need to make sure and get that otherwise you become criminaly liable for destoying the evidence.

There is, but over time it will kill your sense of smell. Best is to learn to get use to it, then over time, you don't even notice it. But the first couple times...puke city.
