BREAKING: Santorum Directs WA Team to Form Coalition w/ Paul Supporters
From the Seattle Times:

The latest twist: Rick Santorum's campaign is teaming up with Ron Paul supporters in an effort to deny Romney delegates, apparently at the direction of Santorum himself.

The strategy has alarmed some top GOP officials who fear it will crack party unity and lead to a nasty scene at the state convention in a couple months. It has also angered some grassroots Santorum supporters.

In an email to Santorum supporters Thursday, state volunteer coordinator Graden Neal laid out the plan:

"Last night, the Washington State Rick Santorum leadership had a conference call with a special guest, the Senator himself. We were surprised and honored that Rick Santorum himself came on our call to help give us direction. And the Senator didn't mince words. In order for us to win the nomination in Tampa in August, we must deny Romney delegates to that convention. If the frontrunner, Romney receives 1,144 delegates before the national convention, it is all over for our campaign. That is the reason why the Senator himself directed us to coalition with the Ron Paul delegates to deny Romney any state delegates."

Well Ron Paul supporters, JUST SAY NO.

How does any self-respecting Paul supporter go along with ANYTHING Rick Santorum does?

Please.

The media, Republican insiders, and money interests are now all rolling forward with Romney despite the fact that there is very little passion out there for him.

Paul and Santorum could derail that if they joined forces rhetorically on a few strategic issues - Romney/Obamacare and the Tarp/Fed bailouts. That could have the effect of stoking the flames of the Tea Party Movement as those were the key rallying cry issues. Romney was on the wrong side of both issues. Santorum, to his credit was on the right side.

An alliance over delegates and a strategic alliance regarding these two issues could still stop the Romney train.

Like in sports, you can't win the championship if you don't make the playoffs. If this gets us to a brokered convention then I'll get behind the plan. I'll put my trust in Paul's campaign and what they say is best.

Still Dont trust Santorum in the least. I wouldnt sacrifice a RP delegate For a Santorum one for anything. If we dont have anymore delegates there or cant get them voted for that is different can see it then, but just be carefull.

I saw a comment not too long ago from the Romney camp that said it would take an act of God to keep him from winning. Romney, meet God.

I will say though, I'm skeptical. The ONLY thing easing my mind about any kind of coalition is the fact that I saw that undercover video taken where a Romney supporter was trying to ramrod a unity slate through. Santorum had people on that slate, I guess just not enough.

If they do team up with Paul supporters, I know you won't let them landslide, which is what I'm sure Santorum is hoping for.

Re: BREAKING: Santorum Directs WA Team to Form Coalition w/ Paul Supporters
Most of the Ron Paul candidates in many WA state county caucuses were probably already eliminated in a "unity" slate that was promoted by key Romney people and included Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum delegates in a blatant attempt to shut out any of the RP delegates from moving on to the state convention.

This process was pre-planned and the delegates to this unity slate were arbitrarily selected based on their "long term service" to the Republican party (with the full knowledge that delegates that were new to the process would be shut out). By the 3rd round of voting .. all the RP delegates were gone in the Pierce County caucuses that I have personal knowledge of. RP had about 25% of the voting delegates ... and ended up with no delegates going to the State convention.

If this happened in many districts in WA (and I know it happened in many of them) ... then there would be much fewer RP delegates at the state convention anyway. The damage has already been done ... and it was supported at the county level by the very Santorum delegates who are now proposing to "switch sides" and ally themselves with the remaining RP delegates to the State convention that are left?

What hypocrisy! ... even though the idea of preventing the same unity slate from shutting out the remaining RP delegates at State and reducing Romney's chances of taking the majority is a valid strategy.

This should have been done one round earlier for it to be most effective and prevent the same tactics from doing the damage that it has already done.

Hmmmm .....

WA 43rd LD Caucus - Paul's "Open Convention Slate" SWEEPS IT, Romney shut out

LD 43 gets 14 delegates to the state convention. On the first round of voting, Paul's "Open Convention Slate" took all 9 slots that received more than 50% of the vote! Romney's "Republican Unity" slate was shut out.

This is all thanks to the awesome Paul coordinators in the Seattle area! We were expertly organized thanks to all their hard work and training sessions.

2nd round counting (for remaining 5 slots) is in progress...

EDIT: on the 2nd round, WE TOOK THEM ALL. Now voting on alternates...

yes same thing in georgia, except the theft was done at the mass precincts. but bottom line a brokered convention is our only hope. at the very least it will shake things up with these filthy rino neocon traitors. look at how small the numbers are in the vote totals... the gop is atrophying.

our only prayer is for ron to go independent at some point. i have really come to hate the local rinos, and i am a real conservative.

I read this and it's sure good news ... and makes me much more hopeful about the chances at the state level! It seems that either you were more organized than Pierce county or had the numbers to offset the "unity" strategy.

now i know why the santorum campaign and ricky boy suggested a coalition with the Paul campaign to deny romney delegates in Washington state. When Paul ends up controlling the majority of delegates from the Washington state convention, the MSM can say it was because of santorum campaign's shenanigans, and not because Paul had the grassroots support and superior organization.

I certainly am no expert...
Submitted by DagnyGalt on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 12:08. Permalink

and I am sure I will get negative marks for this... but I am just as suspicious of anything coming from the Santorum Campaign, as I would be from the Romney or Gingrich Campaign. Also, Ron Paul does not make back room deals for a reason... and it is one of the reasons we support him. Our Campaign has been all about integrity, and 'shining the light' on all the "compromises" (aka dirty politics) the others (such as Santorum), are playing at. I think that if we were to willingly form an alliance with any of the other Campaigns, we would compromise the integrity of our Campaign. While it is extremely tempting short term.... it might come back to "bite us in the butt" if you know what I mean! These other campaigns have been committing 'voter fraud' all over the country, an illegal practice, that we are starting to prove is taking place.... if we were to do the same thing.... we wouldn't have a leg left to stand on in the legal system, or with the media. Be careful folks... this thing has got big "red flags" all over it!!! (It could even be a secret alliance between all three of the other Campaigns, to tempt the already frustrated and angry Paul Supporters, into sabotaging themselves!) Just saying, we need to look at this from all angles!

By keeping rommies totals down it will be easier to
take the nomination by way of floor votes at the convention
in August

Sanitaryman hasnt a chance for the nomination but the "anybody but rommie" people CAN go to Ron Paul in the second floor vote when its obvious Sanitaryman cant get even half what he needs and Rommie is still way short
so ONLY Ron Paul can get enough delegates to secure the nomination and then we carry him right to the WH in Nov.
