Anonymous Coward User ID: 10751380 United States 04/03/2012 12:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been telling people that FFB is right at the top of the most dangerous entities today . . . and they look at me with a blank stare and then say something profound like "well, it's the only way I can keep up with the grandkids" . . . Frigging stupid. This teacher had no business posting ANYTHING online that could even vaguely be considered offensive, immoral, etc. THAT is the pure, plain and simple fact. This is NOT about personal freedoms - this is about the moral and ethical responsibilities of educators, elected officials, etc. If Joe Schmoe nobody wants to post garbage, that makes him garbage, but if he does not hold a professional position of teaching children, leading constituents, or does not run a corporation or work in a field that requires its employees to adhere to certain standards, then Joe Schmoe is just Joe Schmoe and he has to deal with his own ignorance. Were it not for FFB, these incidents would be fewer and far between. Yes, people can still post garbage around the internet, but Facebook is a tool of TPTB, used to incite and manipulate. You create FB . . . you entice millions upon millions of sheeple to do their sheeple thing on FB . . . then watch havoc ensue! Conflicts, harassment, stalking, victimization, libel, job terminations, lines crossed in every direction, lawsuits filed, debates online and in the media, etc. etc. etc. And TPTB sit back and watch the dumbed-down sheeple feed on the FFB frenzy . . . thereby giving TPTB MORE power. |

Hester posted a picture of a co-workers' shoes and pants bunched around her ankles on Facebook in April 2011 with the caption, "Thinking of you." She posted the picture in jest, but a parent who's on her Facebook friend list saw the image and reported it to Frank Squires Elementary where Hester was employed, prompting the investigation. Anonymous Coward User ID: 13418186 Singapore 04/03/2012 01:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People need to stop using sites like Facebook or Twitter with their real names. In the early days of the internet, privacy and anonymity were valued. Now people don't give a damn even when it's affecting their lives. I never understood the shift. People used to whine that there public records information is online, but now, they volunteer to pour their entire life out there to the public, which includes strangers and mined by various agencies. I never had an employer ask me, but if it ever comes up, my answer is I do not have Facebook. Although it might be a rumor, I even heard of some job applications requesting a password. |

Maybe then they'll learn to butt out of other people's lives. Glad that teacher didn't give out her FB pw. Hope she sues the pants off of em and wins. The more I read about our public schools the more disgusted I become with them. Forced vaccinations, teachers bullying their students, police attacking students inside of schools, indoctrination... Can they even be considered institutions of learning anymore? No, you don't have to answer that. I already know the answer. |

You can do it but then you have to monitor what you post, because it then becomes a professional representation of yourself. If you want it to be social, then don't have business associates on your friend's list. |

Use Facebook, Twitter or Google +? You are a moron. End of. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1288297 I understand what your saying and I agree BUT this is about the legality of forcing someone, against the binding agreement with Facebook to turn over there password with the threat of losing your job. 1. It was on her own time (I assume)off of the clock. 2. She agreed to not give out her password when she signed up. 3. Like the other poster said, what's next bank statements? The keys to your house? Is it any different? Some are proposing laws against this. As much as I hate new laws maybe we need something like this. FlowersChick User ID: 5231702 United States 04/03/2012 11:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What happened to standards? If you teach our children, shouldn’t you set an example on how to act? We tell our children all the time not to post pictures that will haunt you! I have GOOD friends that are elementary teachers that post pics of them going out and drinking or partying at a game. Kids should look up to their teachers. My daughter laughs (as if it is not right) when she sees her teacher out having a beer in town. It should be that way. They should be seen as respectful. When you hold positions in the community, you should hold yourself to a higher standard. That is whats wrong with our society! We have lost our own standards!! Should she have giving up her password to her FB account? NO! Should she have parents as friends? NO! When I comment on a page, my children and all my friends can see the post! What was she thinking! |
