I believe that the Mayans have had ET visitations in the past therefore on that date they will return and make their presence known publicly and openly regardless of whether Earth governments have made their announcements or not. I've done plenty of research on the GFL (Galactic Federation of Light). Don't trust everything you see/hear even if it promotes "love and light".

Just because they may appear "smarter" than us does not mean that they actually are (at the core/energy of our being/essence). You've got to realise that we're all E.T.'s. Not only are we literally aliens (if there is life on other worlds then that means we are alien to them right?), but we've actually had many many lives not of Earth.
