If this could be done, why hasn't the U.S. or NATO or someone knocked them out before? Quoting: Idgits Before Europe etc passed their anti-copyright stuff, it was illegal, now the game has changed. They can take down any sight they wish to now. Soon "anything" they consider a "threat", which by the way can be financial also, they will shut it down. It's not hard to do, you just kill the line from the local Internet hub for that city. When I ran a wireless Internet service, I had my line from downtown, T1 so it would have been as easy as sending orders for that line to be unplugged. I love physics. It bonds us eternally, it's what makes our computers work, it's what's in my morning cup of coffee, it's the thing that keeps the universe from vanishing due to lack of belief... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 13740873 Egypt 04/03/2012 01:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "But the messages have grown silent, with the last communication from any of the core al Qaeda groups being a message from al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula on March 23, the same day the first sites went dark. Quoting: Idgits Zelin said five key sites, including Ansar al-Mujahidin Arabic Forum and Shamukh al-Islam, both stopped operating on March 23. Another, al-Fida', stopped working on March 25, and two others followed on March 28 and March 30, according to Zelin." [link to security.blogs.cnn.com] So...is someone targeting these communication systems? If this could be done, why hasn't the U.S. or NATO or someone knocked them out before? sorry if I laugh at your question. Al Ciaeda as you think of it doesn't exist. Al-Qaeda also means "Toilet" depending how you pronounce it, not a nice term in arabic to use it that way. So maybe CIA decided to simply flush them down the toilet, because nobody buys the Qaeda terrorist group threat anymore, and they served their purpose. They now started using different mercenaries, recently saying "Unit 400" blaming Iran for it (of course that's just a new cover to accuse Iran of a possible attack). I knew they were going to flush Qaeda down the toilet soon and use different break-away groups for different agendas. NATO and US or Israel would have thrown off any website/forum like this off the grid asap...I didn't even know that existed. Anybody gullable enough to believe this crap that they actually had a Forum etc..and nobody bothered to take it down since 2001 needs to get his head examined. No offense OP, I'm sure you get it too.... ;) |

So the camel riding jockeys wielding scimitars never happened right? lol. 117711. US Soldier pushing for government transparency. I will remove TPTB from their throne. I will be the chaos and human error needed to balance their schemes. My "TPTB" may differ from your chosen "TPTB." I choose the people that hold the positions accountable for their actions. If you take enough of the worms soon you have a plain hook. I prefer to remain blissfully ignorant on 95% of whatever happens around me. |

The sites, where al Qaeda posts messages and jihadists and wannabe jihadists post messages and discussions regarding their ideology and loyalty, started disappearing on March 23, said Aaron Y. Zelin, a researcher in the Department of Politics at Brandeis University. Zelin also maintains the website Jihadology.net." Yes, they are going silent on purpose, and for a specific reason. Before major attacks, they have learned to get moving and out of harm's way. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 10725032 United States 04/03/2012 03:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Internet Communications is the LEAST secure way of having your followers follow you since if the followers look at your website THEY and THEIR location are known ... and then put into a big database. A non-trackable way for the followers to get information is by far the best from the viewpoint of any organization that wants it's followers to remain hidden. This could easily be accomplished via Short Wave broadcasts (the location of the sender is known but the location of the recievers and their identities is unknown), piggy backing on satellite TV channels (how I am clueless how to do it but there is probably an easy way to do it), and of course written communications. AQ probably has either: 1) an operational plan that they are implementing and do not want any accidental spilling of the beans or 2) have decided to go to a method of communication that is less subject to it's followers being identified |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1682637 04/03/2012 04:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | there are plenty of ways to hide internet tracks. The local PD where Ilive just got a new department for brrakig high profile encryptions. It was millions of dollars and is actually very limited unless people wren`t trying to be sneaky. If the criminals were relying on their safeguards, firewalls, encryptions, etc., then the machine works wonderfully and quickly. But...if anybody intentionally swapped IP`s, bounced signals off foreign satelites, etc...the multi million dollar machine is useless. |
