You call yourself compassionate and loving but would be fine with you local police department taking a good person and torturing them, not because they're a criminal, but because of an idea or a lack of an idea in their head. This person could very be a stand-up citizen of the community, admired and loved and respected. But, he believed a certain thing, and that thing means torture and separation from his loved ones for the rest of his life. You'd probably say you'd never sign off on this kind of treatment, but that would make you a liar and a hypocrite... After all, you serve a God that would do that very same thing.
