OK, it's not actually about my Uncle, but my brother.

He's in sales and his job is to take clients out to lunch. Yesterday he took out six men who were all in banking. Out of the blue he asked them how many sitting at the table either had an AK, or an AR, and every banker sitting there had one or the other and at least 5,000 rounds of ammo. One guy even said that if he had the money he would build a bunker. Now don't get me wrong, these aren't presidents of banks, or anything like that, these were heads of local banks, or finance people within the bank.

The funny part was they were all with their dates or wives for the evening, and the ladies at the table he said didn't even acknowledge what the men sitting there had just talked about. So, AK's and AR's and stock piles of ammunition, and the women sat mindless?

He asked them why they felt it necessary to have such weapons, and they all chimed in, have you not seen what's going on?

My brother is a little bit of a prepper, as much as he can on the salary he makes, but he just wanted to hear it from them.

Anyway, take this story for what it is. I don't have links, I don't have recorded conversation, and you are receiving a story from a guy who hides behind the name Godfrequency, and said he has heard this from his brother who told him about it, and I was never there and wasn't involved in the conversation, so dismiss if you will, but I thought I would pass it along, just because I found it so telling.

You might ask some of your friends, and banker friends.

PS. he had this same conversation about 6 months ago with some of his clients in sales, and they too told him the exact same thing, that they were well armed, and had stock piled ammo.

This also goes along with the record gun sales, record ammo sales, and record discontent nation wide.

Anyway, if you have any stories that are the same, I would be very interested to hear them.

Being a "prepper" or a "GLPer" is not politically correct. For example, my company has banned GLP as a "hate" site.

But there are many flying below the radar. I just learned -- to my HUGE surprise -- that my own cousin is a prepper and stockpiling gold and silver. She's not into guns and ammo that I know of, but ... few are going to admit that.

I find the wives' response totally logical. They're letting the guys handle that piece (it's a guy thing after all) while they hoard canned goods for make sure the bug-out bags are full or whatever. :)

Anyway, he was calling just to tell me to get my ass in gear. He makes fun of me, because I constantly tell him what is going on, but I'm not as prepared as I should be. He says it's ironic that I tell everyone what is happening and yet I'm not completely prepared. I have a wife that doesn't want to hear about it, but worse yet, doesn't want me doing much about it either.

My wife knows about all my guns, and she has more than me. She laughs at my carry piece, calls it a cute little toy. Her carry gun is a lot bigger than mine because she has a large purse to put it in. I think if your wife doesn't know or care about your guns and preps, it might be time for a new wife. Your chances of survival go up dramatically if your wife is actively involved in your plan. A partner is one of th most important ingredients in your survival plan. If your wife doesn't want you to be a prepper, tell her either she gets with the program, or hit the street. Give her a pair of fish net stockings and mini-skirt. Then direct her to a good lamp post downtown.

OP, If you are going to prep, just do it.

Rent a climate controlled storage unit and dont tell the wife squat. That's what I ended up doing.

Now I am sitting fairly well stocked for 10 people for 6 months. It takes time and dedication but you can do it too.

I've been making some preps, but every time she finds something I have to hear about it. I want to plant a garden, she wants to plant flowers, I want to buy food, she wants to buy clothes, I want to store ammo, she wants to take a vacation, or go see a movie. I watch doomsday preppers, she watches real housewives. We are, and have always been opposites, and I love her, but it's not a smooth ship over here.

The other day she was looking at my key chain and she said what is that? I told her it was a magnesium fire starter, she looked at me like I was crazy until I showed her how it worked, and then she actually thought it was kind of cool.

OP what general area of the country are you in? Nothing specific, just what quadrant maybe.

I have banker friends too, in the PNW, and while the ongoing, slow moving banking crisis has been more than obvious to them as bank after bank has gone under, culturally they are not at all motivated to self defense. Too many liberals in denial here.
