Just got this tweet from AP

"U.S. unemployment benefit applications continue dropping, hitting 4-year low as job market improves"

Don't they realize that it's because just about everyone who CAN apply HAS applied and others have ran out?

They been running with that card for a while now.

It varies from state to state. If your on it for 52 weeks thats pretty good. But in todays economy, even that might not be enough to land a decent job.

I work for Db Schenker, a transportation and logistics company and they have laided off a couple thousand people in the last year. I'm barely hanging on to my job. Shit is tough all over.

Exactly, everyone is getting affected by this economy. There is no way around it. Even if your not personally laid off, you have a family member, friend someone that has.

I too lost my job, along with 200+ from the health insurance company for which I worked. ( Congratulations to all those in the mid-east who now have good jobs for about 5 bucks a week!)
Thank you Mr. Obama for this bullshit health care law that literally is destroying our health care industry. I have seen it 1st hand and it is pathetic!
I have no desire to live off the gov't. I am cleaning houses, mowing yards, etc to make ends meet until I can find a job. There are slim pickings in my town unless you will work in health insurance. We are a hub for several large companies. It makes me sick.
Thanks for the heads up on that website. I'll forward that info to my local newspaper and t.v. stations. maybe one day it will become important.

Brace for the blow. A good friend works for Yahoo and has a 1000 square foot house in San Fran that he paid $550k for in 2005. I texted him this morning to wish him well today after I read about the Yahoo layoffs. He was waiting to see what the day would bring. The last time we had a wave of these layoffs it started around August of 2008. The internet was buzzing about the possibility of a stock market crash. Things got freaky real quick. We certainly are not in the condition as a nation that we were in in 2008. People are out of savings. Most households lost a considerable amount of income. We are on the edge after being kicked down the road for 4-5 years. To me the circumstances look very similar to the ones in late summer or 2008 only there is no safety net. All of the crooked cards have been played. Everyone is wise to the game. I am planting a mega garden this year - 50' x 70'. I started 1000s of seeds in Jiffy pots this year so I could get all my friends and family to start or increase their garden.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13832056

The mega garden is very smart. If food prices continue to climb, or the economy gets even worse, the extra fresh food would help a lot. Don't let the feds catch you bartering or trading, they might spirit you away and napalm your garden.

Garden is a great idea. I need to see if I can do that, make it a family project. $$$ is tight and rapidly becoming worthless. The small savings right now is actually due to a tornado this past March! Got a small payout for hail damage to our car. It runs, not having the dents removed :)
I have stocked up on the buy one get one free canned goods and other non parishable items. Attempting to learn the little things I'd never thought about until reading stuff on this site. I am totally new to the world of chatting/ blogging - all of the stuff that I should know :)
Just so sad that this day has come. I am Disgusted by what my child is 'taught' at school. We camp in the backyard and while having fun, we are teaching our child how to purify water!

Big giant flushing sound.. they've wiped their asses with your pension funds & and given a sloppy swirly to the American workers.

America is done.. they left you looking no better then a truck-stop hooker. Hard to believe that only a handful of "Ignorant Hippies" turned out to stop them.

Is this not the "Change.." you were looking for. Wait till you see what the half-bred Kenyan does next term.

Obama has no intentions of coming out of that House.. short of Pitchforks and torches, you're all going to have to drag him and the Sasquatch down off that hill in cuffs.

If they see it coming, he won't hesitate to swipe that launch-card..

You will be liberated whether you like it or not.. shroom

It's no change you can depend on. We've descended into a government plutarchy. Five trillion and a big sack of broken promises. Five trillion to prop up the government and the big unions. Five trillion so the government gentry could keep their jobs. Five trillion of our social security money for government workers to get their big cash payouts, monthly pension and cadillac medical plans for retirement.

You guys are so right! Those behind the scenes got the right man to be the one to take America from greatness, the place where all from other countries wanted to come and build a new life, to a now sad welfare state. They don't hide the plans anymore - They BRAG!
As a white person, if I say anything regarding Obama's policies, actions, etc., I am a racist. If I speak of religion I am bashing Obama b/c I am not Muslim. He's so NOT Muslim but (and this has happened to me) I am a racist who hates anyone who isn't white.???????? They have placed the perfect person in the White House. Nothing said by a white person will ever be good enough...unless you bow down to Obama. I won't be a sheep to fit in. This will hurt me in the end, but I'd rather have my integrity and fight for what I believe. I want my family to learn that as well. obigbro

Actually that would be kinda a good gameshow in this economy... you have all the potential layoffs spin a wheel and whoever wins keeps their job but has to work harder for less... and if you lose you don't have a job for a year.....

Get tom burgeron to host it, seeing as he is the new dick clark.

What time is it?!?!?

LAYOFF!!! O!!! RAMA!!!!
