Hey man, look around you at the world. You think it's intelligent? Never has been. And there are supposed to be a lot of intelligent people around.

Intelligence means squat if you don't have both the common sense and spiritual evolvment to back it up.

The question is, why do you feel the need to measure your intelligence, or anybody elses?

Tests mean fuck all. We all have our strengths and weaknesses... a simple 5 minute conversation will tell me all I need to know about the mental capacity of a person.

Anybody has the capacity to increase there "IQ", as they do their knowledge of the world ... be reading, and learning!

Why measure it when we've already proven that we're idiots? The only hope for the world was the West and it's going bye bye now. Soon it will be Islam and no more whites. Even whites are being paid or played to be anti-white. Do you really need a test to tell you about the intelligence of humans?

True intelligence cannot be measured, it is immeasurable, it is ever adapting and changing to it's environment.
It cannot be pinned down in general knowledge and quantified by measured men of limited knowledge.
True intelligence is ever learning and installing it's adaptability into your conscious reactions.
It is immeasurable, truly.

Put a man in a room. Tell him he has 10 hours to live.

For measuring intelligence at a distance, someone here said it; you either understand things quickly or you don't. You either understand the systems and their purposes or you get lost in defining function.

Of course. There are those who specialize in defining function but I wouldn't consider them intelligent. I believe that the saying is: even an idiot can beat a genius through hard work.

But take those who are specialized out of their feilds and put them in a new one and they will fail. The inability to accept that you can adapt vs the ability to adapt? I'm not quite how not understanding something would work. You accept the information presented and all possible outcomes or you deny there of and fail to understand.

I wonder how many of you realize there's only one message in this?

This subject came up the other day in another thread. I.Q. was discussed as a satisfactory and mainstream tool to measure Intelligence. However, dissent popped up right away and those who support I.Q. as a significant test were mocked.

The gauntlet was thrown down: Okay, name some other tests that are better and in use?

"I will gladly answer that in another thread"

Okay, let's have it...

If you mock I.Q. (and those who have it and are not afraid to say so) what test do you prefer? Is your test used by Mainstream analysts?

This issue needs to be resolved, once-and-for-all, so when it gets down to this sub-argument, people can link back here to back up whatever they're saying.

Thanks.

You will think this strange, but reading comprehension is one of the best measures of intelligence. It can be applied to those who can not read by reading the story to them. It can be applied across languages by using an interpreter.
 Quoting: danwa

Not strange at all...in fact, if memory serves, I believe reading comprehension is a factor in the standard IQ tests.

It's also approximately 3/4 of the LSAT exam for law school. I watched a panel with one of the head test makers talking about how they try to make the test more accurately predict success in law students and their conclusion after trying many different styles of test was that simply asking someone to read a passage and then explain what it means is one of the best ways of assessing their overall intelligence and probable performance.

Re: What is the best way to measure Intelligence?
I am continually amazed at how many people keep trying to deflect the societal need and existence of Intelligence measuring tests.

I am not looking for how you *feel* about them. I find it telling that some people liken taking them to signing yourself up for slavery to a system.

There can be no argument that testing intelligence is necessary and valid...it is being done by people smarter than us; that is just fact. Therefore, the system-in-place is intelligence testing.

Therefore, whatever criteria they use to measure and judge intelligence is (currently) and for lack of anything better *right now* is the final authority on what is or isn't intelligent.

Since "They" are the control and the authority and have whatever it is we want, we are obliged to accept their measure to potentially obtain it.

This is the reality we find ourselves in, and it's inarguable.

So, logically, the test that still reveals itself to be the most used, the most mainstream...the standard...is IQ.

Ergo: IQ is the best measure of intelligence we currently have, and those with High IQ are more intelligent, as defined, than those with a low score.

Generally, it is also agreed that reading comprehension is another and complimentary method of determining intelligence, but is not as mainstream or as standardized as the IQ test.

Next time someone tries to undermine your claim of intelligence by stating "IQ tests are meaningless!" or "You're a douche if you proclaim your IQ!" or other such combative, senseless idiocy, you can now direct them here, to this thread, where we settle the issue.

Intelligence and I.Q. don't relate. Obama is supposed to be smart and he is the worst president ever. He still can't even run cabinet meetings.

A high IQ relates to taking in facts and finding satisfactory resolutions.

This. Also, in my opinion, someone who is self reliant is intelligent. I not necessarily talking about someone who lives off the grid and is 100% independent of everything man made (although I would certainly consider that person to be intelligent if they were able to do that and still have a civilized quality of life.) I am talking about people who are able to sustain themselves with no help from mommy and daddy or the taxpayer funded dole and they actually have something to show for.

Dumb and poor go hand in hand. Poverty is self inflicted because people are poor because of bad choices they have made. Poor choices are the result of stupidity or lack of impulse control. I realize that children cant help their situations but when they grow up they can and if they choose the same path and make the same mistakes that their caregivers did then they are as stupid as the people who raised them. Victimhood is also a trademark of stupid people.

To answer your question OP, I think intelligence could be measured by a persons accomplishments and the life they lead. That isnt the answer you are looking for but what I described above is what I consider intelligence to be (self reliance) so that is how I measure intelligence.

Re: What is the best way to measure Intelligence?
I think it might be able to be accurately judged if you looked at everything someone did, and then the outcomes of all their actions. I know that some people are smarter than others, but it is hard to really prove it without seeing every event in someone's life, which is why intelligence quota was invented... it doesn't really work though, because a lot of I.Q tests have math in them, and even without math I score about 130 so it isn't accurate at all for me... I like solving puzzles and stuff, and most of those tests are for puzzle solving.

However, if you put me into a room with a 1 ton weight over my head that will fall if I don't solve it you might get different results, same with if you put me under water and told me to solve it or I can't breath. Or, the test could be something I hate to do and I will score lower, there is no 1 question set that will test every person.

Ask Michael Jordan to play ice hockey, is what I am essentially saying.

AVERAGE minds talk about EVENTS
SMALL minds talk about PEOPLE

I tend to agree with this. Nobody wants it documented that they are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the human species. I think that there is an agenda behind the way the gov is propping up stupid people like they have been for the last 50 years. Bright people dont fall for propaganda because they are easily able to see the big picture. The more stupid people you have the less likely your game is to be figured out. By propping stupid people up through welfare and free money for college for useless degrees (how many people on pell grants get STEM degrees, I'd love to see the stats on that) the gov is allowing them to breed and sustain a new generation of stupid people.

Also, smart people instinctively dont have more kids then they know they can afford. Since its smart people who have money and pay taxes (for the most part, there are stupid people who have money, just look at Hollywood) so the leeches can be supported smart people are having fewer kids (its been proven that intelligence capacity is largely inherited) so by default there are fewer smart people being born. The stupid people who are being subsidized would have died out 100 or more years ago since their stupidity would have been their undoing.

Well, thankfully intelligence isn't the only way to excel. I like the old D&D model of composition of character, divided into six basic categories:

Strength
Dexterity
Constitution
Intelligence
Wisdom
Charisma

So, a stupid person might be very strong, and thus suited to strength oriented existence.

Each division has necessary skillsets attached to it crucial to any fully-functional society.

Certain combinations suggest occupation, like Dexterity with Intelligence might suggest Surgeon or Mechanic.

The really sad thing is a person who just doesn't make a blip on any specific category.

Most people we meet are lucky if they have a spike at all, and usually these spikes aren't too great.

I think it's these types who get most upset about Intelligence tests, because they don't have anything else to point to when they are revealed to be dull.

I know quite a few people with extremely high IQ's and they are quite incredible human beings. One of them has an IQ of 210 and actually sets the questions for the tests along with others on the mensa board. I can assure everyone reading this thread that the people in charge of these tests know exactly what they are doing and the reason they are the current standard is because they really are the best method for evaluating one's problem solving and analytical skills. The people who are denigrating the tests as a process for discerning intelligence do so only because they haven't got the mental capacity to understand just how good and accurate they are.

This.

Or they are defensive because they know they aren't intelligent and the IQ tests reveal this to the world.

Little do they know we didn't really need the IQ test score to discern.
